In addition, the back yard space was wonderful and private. The only negative was that it was difficult to get air to flow, insect-free, through the house. "We traveled with a large group and this was the only home that could accommodate all 7 of us. The owners reside in an adjacent home on the property. They were there if we needed anything but did not intrude. We had access to a washing machine, and the home has a bathtub which several of us enjoyed. The views from the property are incredible and you have a large outdoor area with a picnic table and BBQ. Definitely a rustic home with lots of old world features. It was challenging to cool down but...

"We were more than happy to have discovered Vila Alegre in the countryside outside of Ponta Delgada. It was beautiful, peaceful, and an amazing place to have been our home base for 5 days in Sao Miguel. Antonio was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and willing to answer questions to help guide our itinerary while there. We can't say enough good things about our experience there, and we definitely plan to return!"

"Overall, the property is very spacious. The home is divided into 3 separate areas with different entries for each. The air conditioners did not work the entire time we were there. They stated they were waiting for a part they had ordered. The windows don’t have screens so you can open them but you get some flies. The bottom section has a mildew smell but it’s expected with homes near the beach. The biggest inconvenience was they had men working on the property the entire time we were there. They...

"The photo was not of the actual rental but a building on the property. Otherwise it was very nice. The bathroom door needs repair and we couldn’t find general instructions."

"The property is a traditional island home. Very cozy located in a quiet village on the north east side of the island. Our host was amazing and went above and beyond what was required to ensure our every need was met. "

"The Blue House was a wonderful home away from home. From the many windows are beautiful views of the sea and coastline. The host welcomed us with a bottle of wine, local cheese and bread, and basics like eggs, butter etc… It is best to have a rental car as it is about a 20 min drive to the Ponta Delgada and the airport."

"Beautiful place and location on a one way street, a busy street, parking could be a problem. But we could always find a spot somewhere. The house had everything you would need. We found the top three steps of the stairs difficult for the 2 small children. Small grocery store right across the road, bakery up the road. Short walk to the ocean, fishing harbour, restaurants and shops We experienced 3 festival or celebrations in our week there. We would stay there again"

"A wonderful vacation home. There were 13 of us who stayed in a very spacious house. All the amenities that you could need and more. The pool and hot tub were very nice and well maintained. We rented the large van from the owners and were able to drive around the island easily. Thank you to the hosts for a very nice stay"
