"My wife loved this place! She thought the rooms were well designed and crafted with quality...not the usual with a hotel. My take was that it was safe, comfortable, and clean. All the things that matter for me. I would add that across the street is the Wild Plum Cafe which has delicious pastries and breakfast. Get your free coffee at the hotel and your breakfast at the Wild Plum and be a happy camper!"

"You have to keep in mind that you are staying at a historic hotel. It’s beautiful & has that old hotel feel, which I always love. The amenities are so so, but that is to be expected. With that being said the room I stayed in has all the comforts of home. It’s cozy & the water is hot :) I enjoy staying in places like this which may not be the same for everyone. "Lovely older hotel on Ocean Avenue, in the heart of galleries, shops and restaurants, and a short walk to Carmel beach. We booked a room with a double bed, knowing it was much smaller than our King at home, which size wise was ok for one night. But the mattress was old and saggy, leading to an uncomfortable night's sleep. Otherwise, everything was terrific, including free parking at the hotel, which is at a premium in central Carmel. We highly recommend the hotel...just don't book that...
