“Great stay. Spacious room. Clean. Lovely staff. Great for the price. Only issue we had is the TV would not stream or play Netflix/prime and it couldn’t be sorted. Staff were fab though! Would definitely stay again. ”
“Lovely traditional English guest house hotel. Simple arrival and check out, good breakfast with great options (menu choice, vegan, veggie, gf etc). Friendly staff, comfy bed (my ‘single’ was a small double) and no noisy air con/heating systems etc. A steep walk up from the city centre but not too far and no problem for me.”
“Friendly staff and clean, spacious room. Not easy to walk there from the rail station. However, One can get there easily through a steel bridge (which was not shown in the map) linking it to the Freeman’s Quoy Centre at the Peninsula, near the Premier Inn Durham. Good and reasonably priced dinner.”
“Nice and helpful staff
Overall the facilities are ok but the flushing of the toilet wasn't strong enough
Not many options of restaurants around but you can try using deliveroo to get what you wanna eat ”
“Beautiful room, very friendly hosts. Comfortable bed. Biscuits and chocolates in the room were a nice surprise. Lovely breakfast. Probably only downside was it wasn't that warm, but there was a plug-in heater in the bedroom. ”
“Positives:
The bed was very comfy. Breakfast was excellent. The grounds & interior of the hotel are stunning. Staff were very attentive
Negatives: No wardrobe although hangers are suspended from a bar for you to hang clothes. No iron & ironboard provided. No tissue box. Hole in hand towel. Room hadn't been cleaned properly - cobwebs on inside of window, TV remote covered in dust, dust in mirror edges”
“The weather was awful rain and cold but what a warm welcome we recieved staff and locals very helpful and informative they dont do food but recommended Georges fish bar and wow we wasnt disappointed cant wait to make a return visit ”
“Really nice place, food was amazing.
Staff friendly.
Room ok.
Needs a new bed.
Not as clean in the bathroom as I would have expected.
Stains on the mirror.
In saying all that I would stay there again.”
“A lovely welcome to a lovely, remote Old Mill house..! The place is beautiful but needs a little TLC which works are being carried out now. The room was OK, big enough but a very cold bathroom - no heat in there at all.. The bed was old & creaky but clean & we slept OK. Tea & Coffee in the room. Bar area and breakfast was first class - always served with a smile. Open fire in bar area made it very cosy. We would stay again. Would love to see the place a little busier which I'm sure it will be……
