"4pm is too late for check-in. Most people are driving and go directly to the property. I arrived at 3:30 and had to try to contact them so we could get in to use the restrooms. All of the voicemails were full and initially we gave up and left to find restrooms. I guess I could have tried to get an early check-in. Not a deal breaker though. Nice place and great location. Pool was clean. "

"Accommodations were as described and met our needs completely. Quiet, comfortable, and private. We were in the area for it's history so were out most of the day. Only complaint was that the door to the "twin beds" room wouldn't close without something holding it closed. I would stay here again."

"This was our second time staying at the Surf Shack! It’s a lovely little cottage right next to the beach with all the necessities you’d need for your stay. Just bring bed sheets and bath towels and you’re all set for a great beach vacation in OBX"

"2 story home just minutes from the beach has everything you would need especially if you have children. The beach entrance had a shower for public use. Plenty of room upstairs and the porch with the swings was nice place to relax. Only down fall was the car wash next door can see you swingin. The yard had a 8ft solid fence to the back yard for privacy. Nice neighborhood to take a walk or bike. Harris Teeters across the street! I’d stay there again! "

"Over all we liked staying here. The home was nice and clean and sitting out on deck at night listen to the waves was lovely. Some things i would add would be a canopy for the deck for day time sitting. Things i didn't like was the walk to the beach it wasn't a far walk but up a hill loose sand with my back problems made it a little uncomfortable. And the area really doesn't have that many places to eat. The drive back up to nags and kitty was nice and more to choose for restaurants. We went 1st...

"We found the house to be conveniently located close to the beach and stores we needed to access as we prepared a few of our dinners at home. It was cozy and quiet not being on the main strip which made enjoyable to sit outside in the deck at night. Our biggest complaint is the mattresses. The bedroom on the front of the house felt like the springs were completely shot when you laid on them. Would highly recommend they replace those so the guests can get a good night sleep after the long days in...
