"We had the room that was considered traditional and western. It had the area for the table and chairs, which then became the sleep area for 2 people with the traditional mats and in the other part of the room were 2 twin beds. Staff was very helpful and helped us arrange the shipping of our luggage. This is next to the train and bus stations so easy to catch transportation. About a 10 minute walk to the older shopping district. Convenient to have a microwave in the room to cook food. A large grocery store was about a 15 minute walk. Being next to the bus and train station did not give great views, but we were booking for the space for 4 adults and the convenience of getting around. This room had a washer/dryer combo, which was a plus because it allowed us to not have to pack as many clothes for the trip."

"Excellent Ryokan with first class service and superb dining (beautifully presented and delicious breakfast and kaiseki dinner if choosing the half board option). Room was immaculately clean and decorated in tasteful traditional style. A very enjoyable stay."

"Loved this hotel! Room was bigger than expected (Deluxe Hollywood Room) and was very clean. Check-in/out was easy with friendly and professional staff available to assist. Breakfast had a good variety of food. Main attractions were within walking distance (10-20 mins walk). Public transportation nearby (10 mins walk). Wish we stayed longer than one night for greater use of the facilities. Would definitely stay here again. "

"The two Onsens especially the outdoors one was lovely as were the treats supplied for guests to sample. Free Shuttle bus to the station also a highlight Souvenir shop reasonably priced and staff most attentive"

"Everything all in one. Communal Onsen with a view. Room is made up at bed time with futons. Store on site. Food presentation beautiful. Great service. Shuttle service as well timely and safe. "

"Excellent hotel on a budget. Room is clean and size is just nice for Japan standard. Check in and check out were very fast with machine. Breakfast was mainly Japanese food. Toiletries and tea powder were placed in the lobby for self service. Good Japanese system but must get used to it. Overall, it is an excellent hotel. "

"A nice, clean and tidy hotel. The staff were helpful and friendly. The rooms were clean and well appointed. The styling was classical and quite appealing. The hotel has free access to guests for the seperate men's and women's onsens. It also has a rather nice sitting room with a selection of books (in japanese) to read/flick through. The breakfast was a generous buffet with a large variety of hot and cold items from typical japanese fare to more usual western toast and and cereal. We would definitely stay again."

"Bosenkan mean Riverview Inn, and it really offers a fine view of the Hida River. This is a traditional Japanese style place, with tatami mat rooms, nice yukata robes for guests, and a very nice indoor outdoor communal bath. I highly recommend it if you are staying in Gero Onsen, one of Japan's big three famous spas."
