"It was initially hard to find, but that made it quiet. The staff was nice but the housekeeping really stood out. They were really on the ball and friendly. The rooms were dark, which is okay as we needed sleep, but a bit outdated. It was nice having a washing machine. "

"The things we enjoyed most about 22 Pieces was the size and design of the room and the helpful, friendly and efficient staff. We stayed in a terrace room which, complete with outdoor area, was very spacious for a family of 4. Also loved the modern design aesthetic of the room. Staff were excellent. A good location for first time Kyoto visitors doing the tourist sights but quite a long way from good restaurants and bars. Surrounding gardens are in need of some attention."

"A lovely place to stay. A caution to those older westerners who have a bad back or trouble with low lying furniture. The traditional Japanese bedrooms (dojo) are quite small 4m2 with an average furniture height of 30cm. The public thermal baths are amazing but be prepared to do it in your birthday suit. "This was my second time at this property. I love that it has a public bath and is the reason I stopped again in Kyoto on my way to Tokyo. The room has everything that I needed. It’s a short walk from the Kyoto train station which has everything imaginable. Shops, restaurants, name it. The Japanese outdid themselves with that station.
