Bay Area Historic Hotel

"The hotel is a bit old. It's great if you're looking to stay in a property with a historical aspect. Check-in was troubling. I don't recall on the Hotel's description here on Expedia or on their own website that the deposit was $400 up front. I stayed for 6 days so that should have been around $170. "Its my first time to visit sfo and staying @ the Palace for New Years made the experience absolutely magical. Felt like “royal”. The staff were amazing and super friendly esp Jelly. The Garden Court for was my favourite spot in the hotel. "

"This is a cute older building with nicely decorated "antique" rooms. It's basically a "bed and breakfast" type hotel, minus the breakfast area. The rooms are small, with just maybe a small chair and a sink in the room. But here are a lot of shower and toilet areas, a cluster of two showers and two toilets for every group of rooms, on several floors. Everything is nicely done, with privacy and convenience in mind. "First off, it is a classic SF icon of a hotel. (And the Fairmont across the street has rooms like the Mark since both hotels are 'seniors' yet classic beautiful public areas). The IHG group purchased it in 1973 and even during the late 90s it was still well maintained and didn't show its age). However now, it is showing its age! The rooms are meh since they are clearly aging (and NOT in a super classic way) and are very dated. The place needs a renov! Would I stay there again? Probably not. But...
