"Staff all excellent. Rooms clean and comfortable. Heating too hot and uncontrollable, eg no thermostatic valves. Bedroom corridor doors need silent closing. Breakfast good, evening meal adequate as limited menu and poor quality burgers. Plenty of character and bar busy."

"The electric wall heater had stopped working, my room therefore was very cold on arrival. After asking reception about it I was given a small plug in panel heater which gave off a little heat, unfortunately with bei g in the end loft room it did not warm up sufficiently"

"Outstanding place. Very rustic, delicious food, great sevice and immaculate accommodation. The only downside is the noise of the traffic when you are staying in the roof rooms as there is little sound insulation. Take earplugs and you will sleep soundly!"

"Stayed one night. Clean and comfortable. Landlord and manager very attentive and welcoming. Excellent traditional english breakfast. The pub itself is a proper drinkers pub so expect lively clientele in the bar. Would stay again."

"Lovely hotel but the emergency exit light in our room (4) was so bright it was difficult to sleep. Couldn’t fault it otherwise but obviously this is an issue restwise Really pleasant staff and nice location just out of town "

"This hotel satisfactorily met our needs. The WC seat was very loose. I cannot imagine that this defect had only just happened and should have been dealt with previously but did not cause us much inconvenience. We think the restaurant menu lacked choices for patrons with eating problems"

"The Bushel staff were so friendly and helpful and allowed us a slightly earlier check-in to attend my daughter's wedding. The location of the hotel was perfect in the centre of Bury St Edmunds with the addition of free parking. The breakfast was good and the portions excellent. We had drinks at the bar & all the staff we dealt with were great. Thank you for providing a very comfortable stay in Bury St Edmunds."

"We stayed on Sunday evening and arrived to a warm and cosy atmosphere. Our room had every we needed. It was quiet and all we could hear was bird song. We had that evening in the restaurant and the food was delicious. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The beef roast was amazing. We stayed for breakfast on Monday morning and the selection and quality was excellent. We had a lovely stay and would stsy again, thank you. "

"This hotel is perfectly located in the City Center. I had a great experience thanks to the polite and accommodating staff. The rooms were spotless, and I would rate the overall service a perfect 10/10. However, if you enjoy a hearty breakfast, this may not be the right hotel for you. While breakfast is included, it is quite basic. On the plus side, there are free snacks available all day."
