Return to motel, noticed my room door was ajar & window blinds were open. Closed/locked when I left. Then noticed my unopened food & drink items gone from fridge. Open items still there.
Explained to office guy, asked hm to take look, but unwilling, rude & grumpy. Provided list of taken items & my mobile #. Told hm I had photos of rm, showing that housekeeping had clearly svc'd the rm (new towels, bathmat hung, etc.). Said he would pass to mgmt but I never got a call.
When chk'g in, noticed rm door was difficult to open & had to pull hard to lock it. My guess is housekeeping left door ajar when servicing rm. Then someone entered to take items.
Also, while out for walk on 1st day, noted several men milling around area. Asked one guy in park'g lot for directions to beach. Nice guy. Told me was living in vacant property next to the motel using CA homeless vouchers. Hope he was not guy who took the items, but clearly people casing the joint looking for opportunities.
I booked 3 nights. After experience, told office guy was checking out and to please refund nights 2&3. Also, reimburse $35 for taken items. Never heard back.
Later messaged motel via Expedia Msg'ing, providing all info above. Never heard back. That was 2-1/2 wks ago.
Contacted Expedia, providing all info and photos. They contacted motel, but Scandia refused to refund for 2 unused nights or reimburse $35. So posting information as an Expedia review so others can be aware.
