Not ready to be a VRBO
This property could actually be a terrific VRBO but not in its present state. I am being generous giving it 3 starts overall. Positives: check-in was fine, location is good, the surroundings are lovely, heat/water/wifi were fine, beds were comfortable, kitchen and bathroom were clean. We were fine. Negatives: The house has mice, and we found glue traps under the bed I was sleeping in with two dead mice that had already been there quite some time. That means the host know there's mice, but then isn't even checking to make sure that guests aren't the ones to find and dispose of them. I contacted the host during our stay and sent pictures, the response was "is there anything else?" -- and no offer to do anything for us. The house is generally fine, very dated as shown in the listing -- we knew that going in. But the owner's stuff is literally everywhere... it's like visiting your grandparents' house while they are at home (they just stepped out for a minute). There is kitch, junk and clutter everywhere. The couches are shot and smell funky, they've been sprayed with tons of Febreze to mask it but that only makes it worse. The couch cushions were on backwards, and when I flipped them I founds cigarette butts underneath. Kitchen was generally equipped but oddly had like 10 spatulas but no kitchen knives. Had to prep meals using the one and only steak knife in the kitchen. Stove didn't light the first night (it did the next day), had to go digging for matches All could be fixed!
