The property is in a great location. However there were issues namely the hot water in the upstairs and downstairs bathrooms was unreliable sometimes completely not available or would suddenly stop. The upstairs sink and downstairs shower drains were blocked taking a long time to empty. The downstairs shower required the removal of a large hairball. In general the facilities were not as clean as we would expect. The worst experience, and a likely result of the lack of cleanliness, was that one of our friends staying in the downstairs room suffered towards at the end of our stay with insect bites all over her midriff. On return her doctor confirmed that the bites appeared to be the work of bed-bugs or fleas and required a course of antibiotics. She has since emailed the owners explaining her issues.

Beautiful, house, location, great host
We have loved staying in this beautiful house. It has been built and furnished with great care and attention to detail. Thanks to the bedroom windows we have had the possibility to watch both the sunrise and the sunset. The nature around is great; you can see the Ijselmeer and the kite surfers on one side and the pastures on the other. If you get "tired" of the nature, the car drive to Amsterdam is about 30 minutes. Saskia and her husband are great hosts, very attentive and discreet at the same time. Their house was open to us at all times and they did their best to advise us and help us with every single detail. All in all, this is a wonderful place to stay and we will definitely come back in the future.

Country Lake House
A Gorgeous farming landscape, filled with cute farm animals and pretty kitchen gardens, surrounds this home, with views of the large freshwater lake. The hosts kindly brought us fresh vegetables from their garden. It was a dream!

Great stay in a great location!
This house was a lovely quiet place to stay for three nights. We stayed with our parents (in their 70s) and all four of us were extremely happy. The hosts were kind and helpful, the home was bright and open and the location was perfect to allow us to explore Edam and Amsterdam!

Beautiful inside and out! Wonderful Experience and Fantastic Hosts.
This was truly a beautiful and relaxing stay. Saskia and her husband were wonderful hosts, and even brought us homemade bread and fresh eggs for breakfast. The home was spotless and in a simply beautiful area. Sitting in the hot-tub watching the sun set was so relaxing, as was the sauna. And getting to Amsterdam was simple with a short drive to catch the bus for a 25 minute ride into Central Station. Edam is a delightful little town. All in all a perfect vacation get-away!

Schönes Haus mit tollen Ausblick
Das Haus ist sehr schön und liebevoll eingerichtet.Die Ausstattung ist gut und es fehlt an nichts, wobei nicht mehr alles ganz neu ist. Das obere Schlafzimmer mit dem Blick auf die weiten Felder mit Kühen, Pferden und Schafen auf der einen Seiten und mit Blick auf das Meer zu anderen Seite ist echt Super! Die Terrasse mit Garten und Whirlpool laden zum relaxen ein! Der Wohlfühlfaktor ist sehr hoch, das kann auch die eine oder andere Spinne nicht mindern. In der Umgebung kann man schöne Fahrradausflüge machen und das nahe gelegene Edam ist auch sehr nett mit guten Möglichkeiten Essen zu gehen oder einzukaufen. Auch Ausflüge nach Amsterdam oder auf die andere Küstenseite sind aufgrund der geringen Entfernung lohnenswert. Saskia und Onny sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Wir hatten sehr schöne, entspannende Tage und würden jederzeit wieder kommen!

Erholsame Tage
Wir, 3 Erwachsene (Ehepaar und Oma) und 3 kleinere Kinder, haben ein wundervolles verlängertes Wochenende am Markermeer verbracht. Das Haus ist mit allem ausgestattet, was man benötigen könnte, es ist sauber und sehr stilvoll eingerichtet. Ankommen und wohlfühlen, den Blick über die Felder schweifen lassen und Tiere beobachten, ein gemütlicher Saunagang und die Entspannung setzt sofort ein. Der Kontakt mit den Vermietern ist überaus freundlich. Edam und Alkmaar sind tolle Ziele in der Nähe und einen Ausflug wert. Wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt und allen ist der Abschied schwer gefallen. Vielen Dank.

The perfect getaway from the city
Enjoyed a lovely, quiet and snowy long weekend at the kaakberg with our twin babies. The house was perfectly comfortable and set up well for making meals, relaxing in the sauna & spa or just admiring the beautiful countryside views from every window.

Magic, quiet and so confortable
This journey was perfect. The house is gorgious. Édam is so lovely and We had a good plan to park for free the car in Amsterdam north where We took the free ferry. It was simply magic. We really appreciate this moment of confort, peace and beauty after a difficult year. Everything in the house has been conceived to have a confortable journey. Traumhaus am Meer
Wir waren als Familie mit 3 Teenies in diesem wunderschönen Haus und haben unsere Urlaubswoche sehr genossen. Jedes Zimmer war liebevoll mit frischen Blumen dekoriert und wir wurden mit Eiern, Obst, Gemüse und Kräutern aus dem Garten super versorgt. Herzlichen Dank dafür an die netten Vermieter! Die Aussichten auf das Meer, ins Grüne zu den Pferden und Kühen war herrlich entspannend. Von hier aus konnten wir gut Ausflüge nach Amsterdam, Edam, Alkmaar und auch an die Nordsee machen. Einen schönen Ausklang fanden wir immer in der hauseigenen Sauna und im Whirlpool. Wir kommen gerne mal wieder :-))

Erholung pur
Die Gastgeber sind sehr sehr freundlich, das Haus ist sehr geräumig, liebevoll eingerichtet und überall standen zur Begrüßung frische Blumen. Whirlpool und Sauna laden zum Entspannen ein und die Umgebung mit viel grüner Natur ist perfekt um sich vom Alltagsstress zu erholen. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und kommen gerne wieder.

Wir sind richtig herrlich empfangen worden. Die Unterkunft war sehr sauber. Eine tolle Aussicht aus dem Wohnbereich im 1. Stock. Die Küche war auch sehr gut ausgestattet. Sehr freundliche und aufmerksame Vermieter. Wir haben den Hundepass vergessen und er wurde promt von Saskia am selben Tag noch nachgeschickt. Jederzeit sehr gerne wieder. Sehr empfehlenswert.
