"We spent there 3 nights in the winter time and it was amazing. Very friendly dogs, my kids spent time with sheep's, rabbits, chickens and guinea pigs. All the time was busy:)) A bit cold and wet inside the house in the winter time, but overall everything was amazing. Amazing gardens with oranges! Very friendly host, also we had earlier check in and welcome presents."

"The setting is beautiful, with a lap pool and pond adjacent. Our room had a kitchenette, so helpful as the place is 3 km from town. Pedro and his furry friends are all fabulous."

"Overall it was a good one-night stay including some essential gluten-free items for breakfast - no GF bread but we didn't expect that and had brought our own. Our room had the promised sea view, unfortunately the foreground was an abandoned building full of garbage - that is outside the hotel's control of course. "To start off, we had a late arrival to the property; working with Stella at the front desk, she made our arrival seamless and easy (they do not have a 24 hour front desk). The location of the property could not be any more picturesque and the location to the town and local beach makes it feel like everything is right in your very own backyard. We will absolutely return if provided the opportunity. Thank you to the staff at Pontalaia Apartamentos!"

"Maison très sympathique, avec une piscine très agréable. Une rénovation de la salle de bain est à prévoir. L'emplacement est calme, avec quelques commerces à proximité. La terrasse est protégée du vent quotidien même en août. Soirées fraîches, parfait !"

"We had a nice room overlooking the pool. Although we didn't have supper or breakfast, there's a very popular restaurant with an excellent view over the Mira River. The old town is only a few minutes walk away. Excellent value."

"Easy check in. Friendly staff. Nice room. While parking was not included, it was easy to park in front of the hotel and it was free. Nice breakfast. Short walk to the beach. Good location. Quiet. Stayed 3 nights and would go back. Spent 2 weeks in the Algarve, changing city and hotel every 3 days and this place was my favorite."

"Fabulous hotel. Great location and had a lovely room with sea view . Only negative was the breakfast as it was till 11am and we came down at 10.40 and they started putting away all the breakfast at 10.50 which was very disappointing as we had no notice given to us that they were taking everything away . So gave us no chance to have anything hot ! "

"Great views and easy walk downtown or down to the beach below. Having a hot tub was a nice option. They have access to a pool as well but we did not try it, but it looked great. Room was decent, nothing amazing but no complaints, nice to have A/C after some of our stops did not."

Praia do Canal Nature Retreat Small Luxury Hotels of the World.

"We stayed a week at the hotel. The staff were very friendly, and the room and other facilities and breakfast buffet were brilliant. What could improve a longer stay (like ours) is more food options for the evening (more casual dining options too), clearer roles for staff serving in the restaurant (some confusion there), and a heated outside spa pool. Other than that - really great!"
