See the dramatic waterfall and natural water park and caves that are among the star attractions of this beautiful park.

Turner Falls Park is an ideal daytrip location if you’re staying in southern Oklahoma. The highlights of this beautiful area of protected parkland are the natural swimming holes that lead off from Honey Creek, while the dramatic waterfall itself is also an Oklahoma must-see. Reserve accommodations in the cabins within the park, leaving even more time to explore the area’s many riches. Be sure to bring your kids here, as the park is a family favorite.

The oldest park in the state, Turner Falls Park gained its name from Mazeppa Thomas Turner, who set up home on the banks of Honey Creek in 1878. Visit the park today to see how it has expanded in size and ambition over the years. It now covers about 1,500 acres (6 square kilometers). The falls themselves are an impressive 77 feet (23 meters) in height. Splash around in the refreshing natural swimming pools at the base of the falls with the dramatic sight of the Arbuckle Mountains in the background.

The swimming areas here retain their natural beauty, but have been developed to make them more family-friendly. Watch your kids go wild sliding down water chutes as you relax on one of the sandy beaches along the edge of the swimming holes. Explore the three natural caves that curious children find absolutely magical. Notice the many natural rock formations that keep geologists so interested in this special place.

Be ready to spot a huge array of different animal species as you explore the park. Creatures to look for include wild turkeys and whitetail deer, as well as a wide selection of birds.

Find Turner Falls Park about a 10-minute drive south of the town of Davis. The park is at its liveliest in summer, the best time to go swimming. However, keen anglers should also consider visiting in the winter months, for a lively trout fishing season.
