Wedding trip
The house was in an ideal location for us. Made traveling back and forth to the wedding venue and reception very easy. The house was ideal for everyone in our party. The few troubles we had the host was very receptive and friendly. Helped us with work arounds for the situation we were having. Would glad stay here again.

Decent but a little misleading
Property is not on the lake and the only spot we could find to access trout lake was at the campground. Not sure that is the correct place to go but never got a response back from owner about where to access the water. It is not in a secluded area - it is on the corner of a busier street and close to an active train track. House was clean for the most part. The water is very hard. We used bottled water for our food and coffee. The showers were not very good. It is outdated but you can see that in the pictures. There is a corner market in walking distance that was really everything you would need which was nice. Overall was an ok stay!

This is not where you want to stay... be warned
The worst place I have ever stayed and our issues started as soon as we arrived. GPS does not take you to the home, it takes you to the middle of a road about 2 streets over from the house. Once we found the home the door was covered in cob webs and large spiders. The water is not drinkable, this is not listed in the description of the home and we were not prepared. The home has well water, which is fine, but it smelled of sulfur so strongly that the entire home has an odor from flushing the toilet, showering, or washing dishes. You will not feel "clean" taking a shower, you will not feel comfortable using the water for cooking, coffee, washing dishes or clothes. The house says it has AC, this is misleading as well there is one unit in bedroom. This obviously will not cool a level home. The beds are all in need of a new mattress. The bedrooms are in need of blinds, there are only sheer curtains no privacy! There is no light in the kitchen (except for over the sink) or in the main living area (except for a stand up lamp in the corner). The kitchen and bathrooms had random items in them, like 1/2 used body wash in the shower that made the home feel unclean. It felt like someone actively lives there and did not remove their personal items prior to having guests. My family stays in several VRBOs a year and this the 1st time I have ever left a negative review. The property owners have a lot of work to do to make this place an acceptable place to stay.

It worked very well for our group and we had a great time. Property was as described and well appointed for our time there. A/C would have been nice as it warm during the day, but being in the UP, it cooled down at night.

Nice house
The house was amazing. The queen beds definitely need a mattress upgrade they had were uncomfortable, the yard is amazing I was sad we were unable to spend time outside by the fire because the mosquitos were so thick. The water is from a well so it has a smell but that happens. A little to far from everything for me but can’t say I was completely disappointed.

Overall a great stay. The water from the house's well has a strong sulfur taste. It would be best to take along water to drink. The house is near the lake but not on the lake as the one of the pictures seems to suggest. The host was extremely responsive and returned emails within a very short time.

We rented for a snowmobiling long weekend for 3 couples, and the place was perfect for that purpose. The issues we had were very small and insignificant (e.g., no basket in the coffee maker). I very much recommend this place, particularly for snowmobiling.

Perfect location and space
I gave this a 5 for almost everything - it was the perfect location for our family as my parents have a cabin about 5 miles outside Trout Lake. The rooms were adequate, the bathrooms were mostly good, but the tub was awkward to shower in as it was a handicapped tub with seat and door. It left very little room to actually stand. We did not mind the sulfur smell of the water - it reminded us of hot springs we have visited. There is only 1 a small window AC unit in one bedroom - it was fine for our stay as the weather was not hot, but the listing is a bit misleading there. We never tried to walk to the lake because we were not sure where there would actually be public access, but it was definitely across and down the street, not by the house. Overall, we would stay here again. Thank you for a pleasant property right where we needed it. 😊

Picture is deceiving and water is rancid
The bads: When initially looking at this property it shows a picture of a backyard near a lake. The property is no where near the lake so we were a bit disappointed and this felt deceiving. The bathroom is a handicapped shower so it is very tiny. House does not have central air but has a room a/c unit so not a huge deal but just wanted to point this out for the next renter. The biggest disappoint is the water as it has a strong sulfur smell so you basically feel like you are showering in sewage. This is not the owners fault but also wanted to point out it is a mosquito breeding ground so we couldnt enjoy the outside much. The goods: huge yard and driveway to be able to pull trucks and trailers in. House was clean and the beds were comfy. Dishes were provided as well as access to the garage. Due to their not being central air, the host provided many fans. Washer and dryer were also a nice bonus. Check in and check out process was very smooth. Overall, the host was very accommodating and the house served its purpose. However, i would not stay here again as the smell from the water was unbearable and it was not near the lake as the picture showed.
