Enjoy winter and summer seasons at this dynamic Salzburg resort where you will find one of the world’s highest footbridges.

With its thrilling slopes, off-piste areas and picturesque views, Stubnerkogel Mountain is a skier’s dream. The iconic ski resort is also known for its narrow, swaying suspension bridge and mesmerizing viewing platform.

The mountain ski resort is part of a complex with Schlossalm and Angertal, making it the largest independent ski area in the region. Take modern ski lifts and cablecars up to the slopes at the peak of the resort, which reaches an altitude of 7,500 feet (2,300 meters) above sea level.

Find plenty of beginner runs on the gentle pistes of Angertal Ski Center’s Gasti Snowpark. Pluck up the courage to take on the mighty Hohe Scharte Nord downhill run from the Schlossalm peak, for a thrilling ride of 6.5 miles (10.4 kilometers), with a vertical drop of 4,720 feet (1,440 meters).

Outside of ski season, which lasts from early November until late April, the mountain has plenty of activities. Bring your kids to the Fun Center to frolic in the ball pool. They can play with table games and climbing frames.

Hike along the Rock Trail, which is shaped as a loop starting and finishing near the cable car station. Snap photos of the panorama from the Glocknerblick steel viewing platform that extends off the side of a cliff.

Walk along the narrow suspension footbridge that sways in the wind over a 92-foot (28-meter) drop. Its altitude near the Stubnerkogel’s peak offers spectacular views of the verdant or snowy mountains around it. Test your bravery by peering through the transparent base beneath your feet.

Pay for a season pass or get a day ticket for the Gastein area. Dine at the adjacent restaurant, which is beside the upper terminal of the mountain lift.

Stubnerkogel Mountain is on the western outskirts of Bad Gastein in the state of Salzburg. Access the Gastein Valley via the Tauern Railway from major cities around Austria. Visit nearby attractions, such as the Golf Club Gastein, the Flying Waters zip line over a waterfall and various spas in the town.
