Inhale the salty sea air and enjoy the sea views during a stroll down Paphos’ busy and bustling restaurant and shop-lined promenade.

Life in Paphos revolves around the waterfront, where you will find the lively Seafront Promenade. Strolling along the palm tree-lined walkway is an essential Paphos experience and is one of the best ways to get a feel for life in this coastal Cypriot city. Photograph views of the sparkling sea and stop for a drink, dinner or a spot of people-watching in one of the many restaurants lining the promenade.

Paphos is a popular seaside resort, where the star attractions are sun, sea and sand. The promenade is also known as Poseidonos, a name that aptly references the Greek god of the sea, Poseidon. From every point of the promenade the sea is visible. Wander along the waterfront walking route and watch vacationers tanning themselves on the shore and boats bobbing out at sea.

As you stroll, look for historic landmarks such as the Paphos Castle. Located near the entrance to the harbor, this small stony building is all that remains of what was once a much bigger 16th-century fort. The adjacent harbor area is also worth exploring, with many shops and boutiques here selling Cypriot-made items.

The promenade is dotted with shops and stalls as well as restaurants and bars. Purchase souvenirs for friends and family back home from local sellers. If you get hungry, take a seat at one of the many restaurants along the promenade. Order traditional meze in local tavernas and sit back and observe the action on the promenade.

Arrange to have an alfresco dinner at sunset for the most impressive views. Stick around as night falls and the bars on the promenade begin to fill with fun-seeking revelers. Sip cooling cocktails and chat with other vacationers and locals late into the night.

The Paphos Promenade is not difficult to find. Simply head toward the seaside from the center of town. The promenade is mostly smooth and suitable for visitors of all kinds, including those with buggies or mobility difficulties.
