"What an awesome stay! The place is nestled in the mountains a few km above Sao Vicente. You’ll need wheels! It is a typical village surrounded by locals - not a tourist in site. The perfect getaway! "I enjoyed my stay at Zarco very much. The room was very comfortable and renovated with beautiful linens and a great bathroom. The staff was exceptionally helpful and friendly. The breakfast buffet is outstanding with pastries, fruit, eggs, deli meats and cheeses and excellent juice and coffee. It’s also very well located walking distance to the historic area, the marina and beach promenade and great cafes and shopping. My only complaint is the street noise since my room overlooked the busy square below with a cafe open until 2:00am and lots of noisy people. I would happily stay there again but ask for an interior room. Be aware that you have to walk up 16 stairs to enter the reception area. I was lucky that some charming guests helped carry my large rolling suitcase up the stairs! Overall an excellent value and charming place to stay in Madeira."

"This is our second time at this hotel. And if we come back again to this beautiful island, we will stay there again. Location is wonderful. Hotel itself is a designation of relaxation and good food is what you are looking for. Room is so comfortable and clean. We had an error in our reservation through Expedia and hotel just corrected it for us which was so wonderful. "

"We stayed in 3 bedrooms villa. It's modern, big, clean, & comfortable place to spend with friends & family. The complex has beautiful beach view, clean & safe. The staff are nice & professional. The buffet food is excellent. The specialty restaurant is hard to get a reservation since it's limited space. I wish the resort tells & gives the guest option to special restaurant prior our arrival. "

"The staff is fantastic. The property is well kept, but is an older 10 years but in good repair. I think the property is better than many of the reviews that expected a new property. We like the quiet cute town of Machico. We worked with the hotel staff to extend our stay 4 more days!! Many nice restaurants in walking distance, It about 20 euros to get Uber to Funchal for tourist shopping. "
