My mother and I stayed to attend my son’s college graduation. I do short-term rentals 1-2 times a year, I gut/rehab houses and I travel outside the country staying in hostels – so my expectations are realistic. Inside, it is smaller than it appears in the photos, and some of the furniture/arrangement is different. The upstairs isn’t very usable for an adult. The stairs to the second bed are steep and not very deep. I’m only 5’3” and at the top of the stairs, and I had to bend over significantly – almost touch the carpet – to actually get into the room. I couldn’t stand upright beside the bed. The kitchen is so narrow that one normal-sized person can barely walk in it. On top of the design, all of the dishes are in older bottom cabinets practically on the floor, some of the furniture was pretty beat up and the dishes were weird random. Normally tolerable. On the positive side, it was clean and communication about arrival/check in was good. The ground floor back bedroom is good sized with no usability issues. The bath has been redone since the photos and was nice. The deck was good sized and the hot tub seemed ok, although the wood on the deck needs some serious attention. Location was good. The manager did reach out via VRBO to check in – but I didn’t reply because there was nothing that could be fixed. It’s not like we just needed more toilet paper. For an average of $300/night total, I expected two bedrooms suitable for adults and a significantly more usable kitchen.
