Cowboy Cabin is a classic Red River rustic cabin. Know what this means going into your stay and you won’t be disappointed with this gem! These cabins, many built in the 1940s and 50s, reflect their time, and are exactly what we think of when we think about a getaway to a non-corporate mountain town like Red River. Other reviews focus on the bathroom, which, while small, was functional and actually surprisingly large for similar cabins we’ve stayed in. Beds were comfortable, kitchen was clean and well stocked with the basics, and the living room was comfortable. If you want a hotel experience, there are options in town. If you want a real mountain cabin, look no further.
The reason to stay here is the location. Close enough to town for convenience, but away from everything in a very peaceful group of cabins. The wraparound porch allows for great enjoyment of the gorgeous setting. We even found some well-kept but little documented hiking trails nearby. The road up is rocky, but take it slow and watch for sharp rocks and you should be fine. We’ll definitely be back!
