We stayed for Parents weekend VTech, was about a 40 min ride. As others have mentioned, the slope from where you park to the house is very steep. House is rustic, bare bones, very small bathroom. But the location is lovely and the beds were comfortable. We were hardly there, so worked for us.

Not too accurate.
House is old and needs many repairs. The listing is listed with a dishwasher, and the property absolutely doesn’t have a dishwasher. Pictures clearly show a Keurig coffee maker, there isn’t a Keurig either. The lawn is a disaster for older people to manage, due to many steep hills and no steps. Other than that the views are gorgeous.

What a fun stay!
We had a great stay at this property. Pros: Quiet, Comfortable bedding, the gorgeous view, the dock with umbrella, very quiet cove, central air (they have window units inaccurately pictured for the listing), the included tubes, and provided linens are all great. Cons: There is no dishwasher as the listing described. The hill isn’t accurately described, but luckily I read the reviews prior to my booking and knew what I was getting into. It is a hill to the lake and hill from the driveway to the house as well. The kitchen needs a full set of pots and pans. At present there is only one skillet, one sauce pan, and one undersized baking sheet. The bathroom is very small, not pictured, and needs updated, but we made it work. Overall we really did enjoy our time here and I would stay again.

The view of the lake is beautiful. The bed was very comfortable. The manager was very quick to answer any questions I had. The only negative is the hill to the lake. Its not awful but if you have mobility issues it would be a problem. Over all we (dog included) loved this place.

Great time!
My husband and our two Pomeranians, Pixie and Pucci had a very peaceful stay! The house was nice and the lake was beautiful. We got to see a bunch of different creature's and a bunch of deer. The host responded quickly and was very helpful with anything we needed. Would stay again!

Claytor Lake Cottage
The cottage was fine, simple but enough. The only concern was the entry to the cottage from the parking spot, it was on a step hill with no walkway, steps or railing. There was no flat land anywhere on the property which made it difficult to walk especially for older people or people with limited mobility. Also, we could have used a few more channels on the TV.

The house was a very nice house. I would suggest adding steps in the front yard since the yard is so steep as well as adding steps from the house to the dock as the back yard is very steep. Our stay was great. Got there went to grocery store and never left again until we checked out.

We loved staying here. It was so peaceful and beautiful as the leaves were multiple colors. The house was clean. The bed was comfortable, especially with the extra soft sheets. The only downfall is that it’s on a steep hill. If you have a mobility issue, this isn’t the place for you. We were fine. It was a good workout. If you want to build a fire in the fire pit, bring your own wood. We would definitely stay here again!!!

This was a lovely, clean house with a great view of the lake. Great lake and wildlife watching from the big picture windows. The walk from the driveway parking to the house is pretty steep, folks with mobility issues will have some difficulty accessing it.

STEEP BANKS/NO WALKWAY OR HANDRAILS
The listing for this property should point out that it sets on a steep hill and that there are not steps/pathway to the home. No handrails to help reaching the home. In addition, there is a steep hill going down to the boat dock/deck with patio table. Again no walkway or handrails to help reach them. We are a group of elderly people (ages 67 to 79). We found the approach to the home and the dock/patio quite hazardous. Additionally, it should be noted in the listing that the coffee pot provided uses pods only.
