We were in the newer section of the building. The room and facilities were excellent. Breakfast was well catered. Would return again and highly recommend for its location to the Historic Dockyard and Gunwharf Quay outlet shopping.

Unpretentious hotel with everything you need. My only complaint is that there are no usable sockets next to the bed for charging your phone, unless you move the furniture and unplug one of the bedside lamps. Otherwise, friendly staff, quiet and comfortable room.

Location was best feature On arrival the receptionist did not know what the Mary Rose (Portsmouth's top attraction) was or where is it. The desk clerk reserved a taxi for departure which never arrived and he was dismissive with a "not my problem" attitude We are seniors and my wife is handy capped but we received no help at all to get our bags out to the taxi stand

Absolutely amazing hotel, full of history, has a library full of maritime genre books and plenty of comfy areas to sit and relax. Staff were amazing and breakfast was fabulous. Full availability on cooked and continental breakfast. Rooms were lovely and had what we needed. Hotel is within easy walking distance of the dockyard, shopping and transport links. Would recommend easily.

Enjoyed my visit to Portsmouth, made nicer by staying at this hotel. Walkable from train station, ferry and not far from designer outlet shopping centre. Room was clean and quiet no noice from other guests, nice bar with friendly staff. Would stay there again if in the area.

Very traditional and comfortable service hotel. Location is good, very close to the railway station and the Historic Dockyards. There was however some noise quite late on from a housing estate at the rear of the property (I sleep with a window open). Next time I'll ask for a room at the front maybe. Room and en suite spotless. Very clean and comfy. Traditional English breakfast was faultless.

The hotel is adjacent to the naval shipyard and its numerous museums and historic ships. Its also an easy walk to the train station. Nearby is a very popular mall with plentiful dining and shopping options. A prime location to spend a couple of days exploring Portsmouth.
