The hotel is in the most central street for commerce, in Porto, in a lovely area. It is a very old hotel which has been refurbished to continue to feel modern and comfortable (and it does). The room was great. Housekeepers were excellent. Breakfast was good. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is that this hotel has a number of young and unexperienced workers with little notion of service, and that they are there to provide a great experience. On New Year's Eve I was told there would "likely" (?) not be room service. Since I had kids who needed to be in bed early, I just got some treats for us. Surprisingly to me, when I asked for a butter knife at the bar, a worker refused to lend one, because "that was not authorized". Since the restaurant was going to have a big party, I mentioned perhaps I could go get one there; the gentleman had the courage (?) to tell me that I could not go there and take a knife from the table, insinuating I would basically steal it (!). I proceeded to walk to the restaurant and ask a waitress, who kindly lent it, but stil begged me to return it (!). As I turned around, the barman was heading our way and berating the waitress, that the procedure was not allowed...! If you are a prospective guest or manager reading this: yes, rest assured I left the knife in the room! I understand hotels might get pinched things, but seriously, what nice hotel (such as this otherwise is), refuses to lend a butter knife and makes a scandal about this?

The hotel itself is amazing. The location is also fantastic. The bed in the room is absolutely ATROCIOUS! The worst night sleep ever. For a hotel that looks as beautiful as that to have such a horrible bed with the springs digging in your back is unacceptable! Its the equivalent to how homeless people sleep in the street. PLEASE GET BETTER BEDS AND BEDDING!!

Great location on a closed pedestrian street, lots of restaurants. Very helpful staff, Older facility but modern renovations. Beautiful bathrooms. Good breakfast with hot and cold options.

This is unique old structure that is charming, despite the construction. Good breakfast, excellent bellhop service and on a pedestrian only street with occasional taxi pick up. Has a true old euro feel, a healthy walk to river area.

Hotel had character, ambience , old world atmosphere and beautiful architecture and decor. Right in the shopping/dining precinct. Pedestrian mall so traffic issues limited. Only aspect which should be improved is the breakfast .Poor selection of items.limited variety.

The hotel is not reachable by Uber/Bolt and only by taxi. It was a surprise 100 meter uphill walk with luggage when arrive.
