At Site Owner Cancelled
After traveling from Texas to Philadelphia, on the day of reservation, I called the contact number listed at the time allowed to check-in (4 pm), the contact person/owner said that they had rented it to someone else. I had already been on VRBO website and texted the contact person plenty of time before arrival with no response but I assumed that things would be ok because VRBO should be a respectable company to fulfill my reservation. Alas, this did not happen. I called VRBO that moment and spoke to a nice guy who I literally could not understand because of his super low voice (clearly not someone who should be manning the phones) and he said that they would reimburse me the money I paid for the rental or they could try to get me to a different place. I paid for a location in downtown Philadelphia! Luckily there were no significant events happening and my wife was able to rent us a hotel with not even close to the charm of the place that we were supposed to get! How could a company of this reputation allow something like this to happen!?!? Because they care more about the long term money that they can get from the owner more than the people traveling. If they cared about the traveler, then the owner should pay significant penalties to the person who made the reservation. If a traveler cancels the day of reservation, they forfeit the whole amount usually!!! Well, I should be awarded the whole amount of the reservation because they canceled not even beforehand!!!
