La Fortuna 2024
Took my family to Costa Rica for trip. Curt was very gracious and assisted in every way possible. His efforts eliminated all stress. Property was beautiful and secluded but still close enough to town to enjoy all activities. He set us up with a wonderful guide named Carlos who waited on us hand and foot. Lastly, we were provided wonderful breakfast each morning for a small fee dinners to die for. This property is outstanding

Amazing Secluded Getaway
This place is amazing. We stayed here for 5 nights. Our group was made up of 9 people (2 families with kids ranging from age 10 to 17) and everyone loved this place. Our kids had a blast fishing off the deck. We all highly recommend the dinner service. We initially only planned on having dinner served the first night, but it was so amazing we ended up having dinner there every night. We ate at a few different restaurants in LA Fortuna for lunch, but none of them come close to the dinners served at this house. Even our picky eaters loved the meals. The host is an amazing guy with an incredible life story. He stopped by several times during our stay to visit and share recommendations about things in Costa Rica. He even drove 2.5 hours (one way) out of his way to meet us in San Jose because someone in our party accidentally left their car keys (for home) at his house. We highly recommend this place if you're staying in the Arenal/LA Fortuna area. We would definitely stay here again.

Gorgeous Property!
Our stay was far too short but very memorable. Enveloped in nature, this home exudes peace and contentment. Carl, the owner, welcomed us upon our arrival. He was a constant fixture, regaling us with the stories of his amazing life and the restoration of the land surrounding his property. We opted for dinner one of the evenings; breakfasts were included. Both were plentiful and delicious! The tilapia was fresh caught and exquisite! Even our 7 year old picky eater went back for seconds. We look forward to a return visit!

Vacation of a lifetime
I am 44 years old and have never written a review before, but in this case i feel compelled to do so. This was without doubt the best vacation my family and i have ever had. The location was wonderful, and the trip was made by the magic of the house and grounds, and the hospitality extended to us by curt and vielka. Curt has spent over 20 years painstakingly restoring the local rainforest and his property is nested in the middle of this paradise. His local knowledge and crusade for environmental betterment and sustainability is both fascinating and refreshing. Vielka is an outstanding cook, lovingly preparing local dishes from the vast array of produce grown on-site. We were made to feel so welcome, and loved every second of this trip; i cannot recommend it highly enough. Curt and Vielka - our sincere thanks again for making this a vacation of a lifetime for us. Pura vida!

Incredible!
The house was incredible! The owners were too. The photos show it all, does not disappoint! Rental includes daily breakfast (+/- optional dinner for an additional cost). All food items we selected were authentic local dishes, all accommodated to our preferences and schedule! We are a family of six (kids ages 16, 14, 12 & 12) and our stay was more than comfortable. The owner is very knowledgeable of the area and took a lot of stress off from us travelers having to navigate the foreign area ourselves. I would recommend Casa Cielo to anyone and everyone visiting the area. If we can go back, I would return and explore the area more!

Incredible Stay!
We had an incredible stay at Casa Cielo! It felt like we had a private resort all to ourselves. We enjoyed hanging out on the deck looking for wildlife. Curt was an amazing host. He greeted us on arrival, checked-in on us every day and answered all our questions. A real treat was when he gave us a full tour of the property and shared the history and plans. Mauren was a phenomenal cook, and such a sweetheart. We were a bit worried about the drive to La Fortuna, but it turned out to be a nice drive with great scenery. We took advantage of the location to see things outside of La Fortuna. Curt recommended the Children’s Eternal Rainforest, the drive there was a bit rough (need 4-wheel drive) but one of the most beautiful hikes we’ve been on, and we had the place all to ourselves. We also opted for an ATV/Hot springs tour from La Finca, about the same distance as Arenal but in another direction. We got to see a new area, less touristy. We LOVED the hot springs, there were only 2 other local families there, so had the place almost all to ourselves again! Curt recommended Carlos for a private tour. Not only was he a phenomenal and informative tour guide, but he was an invaluable resource in helping me plan for the trip. He answered so many questions I had on what to bring and what to except on my first time to Costa Rica.

Amazing and unique
What an amazing and unique time we had! We spent 4 nights at this house, and it is more beautiful than in the pictures. We also got to know the owner, and he took us on a tour of the property which was great! The food was outstanding! Breakfast was ready each morning at whatever time we requested, and we had dinner cooked for us 3 of the 4 nights. Everything was fabulous! We drove into La Fortuna every day, and it is a hike but worth it to stay here!

Paradise in the jungle
This property is great for families. It's about 30 minutes from town and the road there for the last mile is unpaved and rocky but you don't need a 4WD. We were a party of 8 with kids aged 10, 12 and 15. The kids loved feeding the fish off the balcony in the morning. All of us looked forward to the breakfast that Miranda (who is the sweetest person ever) made for us each day. Miranda only speaks Spanish so one person in our group who speaks limited Spanish did most of the communicating, but if you put Google Translate on your phone you will do just fine. There were five options for breakfast and you pick one for the group the day before and let Miranda know what time you would like breakfast to be ready. We had pancakes (gluten free options available), waffles, eggs, bacon, chorizo, plantains, cheese, fresh fruits, tortilla espanola, oatmeal, rice and beans, squash and a different fresh fruit juice every day. Miranda will make dinner as well for $22/person. We did that one night, but the kids didn't eat very much so we opted to eat dinners out or cook at home. There is a market in town (Rosvil) where we picked up groceries. The house, like most of the places we visited does not have air conditioning. It was a little hot on the days when the rain didn't come so the only recommendation I would have is for there to be a box fan in every room to put next to the window. Overall we loved our stay at Casa Cielo!

This was the most beautiful home we have ever stayed in. The host is friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The woman who cooks is amazing; my 3 kids fell in love with her and still miss her, and she makes the most amazing breakfasts and dinners! The location is a bit remote, but very beautiful!

My friends and I were fortunate enough to spend 3 nights at Casa Cielo this past January. Prior to our arrival, Curt contacted me via WhatsApp and provided important information on the location of the house (must use Waze) and offered suggestions on things to do in the area. We were aware that the house is about a 30 min drive from downtown La Fortuna. Once we arrived at the house it felt like we were literally in the middle of the jungle! Since we were arriving late I had arranged to have the ladies prepare dinner for our group. The dinner was so delicious that we immediately requested to have Helen prepare dinner the following night as well. Breakfast is included with the rental. We were given a menu with several options to choose from for breakfast each day. I honestly cannot rave enough about the food! Ahhhmazing!!! I probably had the best sleep of my life that first night. Falling asleep to the sound of rain and sounds from the jungle … it’s one of the most unique experiences I’ve ever had. The house was perfect for our group of 8. Curt is a wealth of knowledge about the area and helped us secure reliable drivers during our stay. We visited the Hanging Bridges, Arenal Volcano, and Tabacon Hot Springs. It was truly an incredible stay all around and I highly recommend Casa Cielo to anyone visiting the area.

Exceptional property in every way.
Outstanding in every way! Wonderful hot breakfast every day served at times to suit our excursions. Property manager is SO informative, personable and helpful. We learned so much about Costa Rican ecology efforts! Swimming pool, deck seating, WiFi access, fish and wild life kept our four teens engaged and excited. Views are spectacular. Curt's recommendations became highlights of our visit.

It was amazing! Absolutely above and beyond what we expected and the breakfast 5 star worthy.
I would totally recommend this location. Curt was a fabulous host. His employees took great care of us, I would go back just to have the ladies make me breakfast again. Wow! Beautiful, quiet, relaxing! It was more like high end hotel service than an vrbo.

This house is as incredible as the pictures make it look. As mentioned in other reviews, Helen comes and makes breakfast every day. That was a welcome and delicious treat not common in property rentals! She only speaks Spanish, so brush up on your skills or use your phone to help you translate. The host/owner, Curt, is very helpful and attentive. He restored this property that had been converted to a cattle grazing area, back to a natural rainforest that is absolutely beautiful. It is so peaceful and relaxing being on the lake. Bring binoculars so you can perhaps catch sight of some of the wildlife living in the rainforest across the lake. We've stayed in many rental properties and this experience was phenomenal. We will definitely come back. Thank you, Curt, for sharing your home with us!

Amazing Stay in the Trees
This place was so peaceful and beautiful, quiet and serene. Lots of wildlife around to see. Secluded but a half hour drive from lots of things to do. Curt (the owner) was so friendly, helpful and super interesting to talk to. He gave us great tips on things to do and the gal he had making meals for us was outstanding. Do yourself a favor and have her make some dinners and breakfasts for you because the food is off the charts. We Loved this place so much!

4 days in La Fortuna
We spent 4 nights in the villa. We were a group of 9 people including 5 kids. While far out from all the activities we appreciated the piece and quiet of the surroundings. The villa is spacious and comfortable. They serve very tasty breakfasts and also optional diners. We took the diner every evening and really enjoyed the food.
