"We loved our stay at Ryokan Sansui. The view of the mountains around the hotel were amazing with tri-colored foliage. The staff were also very lovely and kind. The food was also delicious and more than I had expected. Communication wasn't too easy, but the message would get across. The best part was, of course, the onsen (hot spring) experience. They offer both public (gender-separated) hot springs and baths, as well as 4 private ones that don't need prior booking or extra fees. Getting there...

"Brought my little brother here for his first trip to Japan, and what a way to introduce him to Japanese hospitality. Every staff there was awesome! Great food, and great onsen!"

"This is a big hotel in Okuhida onsengo area, having amasing baths (onsen). We came for both the springs and the winter illumination experience and we had both. Loved it. The outdoor baths (shared) are great. We also tried hida meet as well as local hotel specialities, like turtle soup and caviar, highly recommended. I would love to come back one day."

"We had a wonderful time at this ryokan. We chose this inn specifically for its remote location and traditional atmosphere and were not disappointed. The hotel, outdoor onsen, and woodsy surroundings were all excellent. The building is old and reminded me of the railroad lodges of the western United States: creaky old doors and floors, metal keys, and rotary dial phones. "Not so worth with the price because I have stayed better nearby. - no big bath towel - limited shower - no hot water for basin - check out time at 9am which is too early"

"We’ve read the reviews of other people before the visit and we did not know what to expect. We stayed at the property for two nights and we were quite happy with our stay. Dinner and breakfast were very good, private onsens were amazing. Private onsens could use a good scrub (that was the only con for our stay). Access is via a bus from Takayama 1.5h - plenty of walks around. "

"We had a really relaxing stay here. For the price we paid, the food and service were exceptional. There were two private onsens that can be reserved, each with its own charm. Additionally, there is a bus stop right next to the ryokan, making this a convenient base for exploring the region. Would highly recommend it!"

"If I could give a 100/10 for the hospitality I would. The owner is very kind and helpful. We had a pleasant day in Kamikochi thanks to her advise and the special breakfast they prepared for us. The room is extremely spacious."
