We've been vacationing in Ocean City, 1-2 weeks per year for the past 7 years. We have never once had any regrets or bad reviews in ANY previous stays. I'm sad to say, we've had our first. To start, we arrived and were charged $20 additional dollars than stated in our paperwork for parking fees and were required to pay cash (thank goodness I had cash because I'm a debit card kind of person). Upon arrival to our unit, the condo was under construction and we couldn't even find our room because nothing was numbered. The property manager was typically non existent and when we texted or called, sometimes we received NO response until we caught someone in person at the front desk. The unit was cleaned thoroughly by Vacasa but the owner clearly hasn't made any improvements or updates in years. There were stained bedroom carpets, NO mattress protectors or pillow sheets on the bedding (GROSS), all of the metal decor was rusted, there were 2 microwaves because one didn't work, an old TV on the balcony that has been there for at least 8 months after reading another review, missing vertical blinds that allowed the ocean morning sunshine to beam in your face at 6am sunrise, and a shower head held on by a suction cup and electrical tape that fell down and hit you during each shower. Our washing machine broke during our stay (Vacasa staff was prompt in fixing) but the machine looked like it was 20+ years old. We were not provided with our WIFI password until I hounded staff for three days straight and by the time it was provided, our stay was more than 1/2 way over. Last but not least, 2 nights prior to our departure, we arrived back home to a unit full of second hand smoke smell coming through our ventilation system. I immediately reached our to the property manager WHO NEVER CALLED ME BACK OR RESPONDED. My children were coughing, my closet of clothes smelled like cigarette smoke and after complaining AGAIN the next day, I was returned a call less than 24 hours before we left stating that there was nothing that they can do about controlling another unit's smoking. I WILL NOT EVER stay at the Irene again and with the lack of response and urgency of, I may not be booking with Vacasa again, either. Pay the extra money and go somewhere top rated, you'll thank me later!
