No heat and unresponsive host
The property is well-appointed, welcoming, and nicely designed. We were excited about our stay and pleased with what we saw upon arrival. However, the unit was cold at 67°F, so we adjusted the thermostat to 70°F. The problem began when the heat didn’t work; only cold air blew from the vents.
After 30 minutes, we contacted the host by phone, who promised to check and call back in 10 minutes. They didn’t, so we called again. The host representative asked for a picture—an odd request since you can't photograph cold air. They couldn’t provide any information on dispatching someone to check the heat, repeatedly saying they needed to get back to us, which they didn’t.
As it got late and there was no confirmed solution, we decided to book a room at the Norwich Inn, which was more expensive, and vacated the property. The next day, the host informed us via chat that they dispatched someone who confirmed the thermostat works and refused a refund. The thermostat wasn’t the problem; the heat didn’t work. When they supposedly sent someone to inspect, the outdoor temperature was in the 70s, so it’s unsurprising that the thermostat appeared fine. Despite explaining the situation, the host ignored our refund requests and stopped communicating with us altogether.
Overall, it was a terrible experience with RedAwning Vacation Rentals.
