Overall, this was a wonderful home. The view out of the panoramic windows in the living room of the ocean below, is spectacular. The multilevel deck is perfect for sunsets, eating breakfast overlooking the waves, and building a fire in the fit pit. The master bedroom downstairs is somewhat dated as is the bathroom there. The updated upstairs bathroom is a true "master bath" with beautiful tile, granite counters a separate soaking tub, and an amazing shower with multiple shower heads overhead, and on the walls. The kitchen has everything you could ever need. Oven, stove, microwave fridge of course. But also toasters, countertop oven and grills, drip AND Keurig coffee makers, and all the pots, pans, dishes containers you could dream of.
The home is pretty remote. You actually have to use dirt/gravel roads for the final mile or so to get to it. You really are "in the middle of nowhere" there. That can be a good thing of course! But the closest to any "city" would be Lincoln City about 15-20 miles to the south. Small town. Nice shops, restaurants, gas stations, convenience stores, and groceries.
Getting to the beach below is impossible from the back of the house itself. If you walk north on the street about 100 yards there is a tunnel like path that descends down to very large and very slippery rocks and at this point you are still a good 30-40 feet up. There is a rope to hold on to while you scramble down these but I wouldn't recommend it unless you are in good shape and brave. You can access the beach by car via roads (more gravel and some paved) at Winema beach. This is about a 2 mile drive. Parking there is limited however.
Two small issues. The house does not have AC. We were fine without it but the description of the house should probably mention this. Also, the house is shown with a large garage. You would assume from this that you have use of it but the owners do not grant this as it was locked up. Again, this should be mentioned in the description.
Overall we loved our stay at Pelican's Perch and wholeheartedly recommend it!
