"This was a unique experience for us -- staying on a cork farm. The setting was stunning - the views amazing and you will truly get an authentic Alentejo experience. Note that is it not close to Evora, so keep that in mind. That said, I don't know that we've ever met a kinder and more welcoming host. "Who wouldn't want to stay in a cottage at the foot of a castle? This was an AMAZINGLY beautiful hotel on the side of a steep hilltop, right beside a medieval castle. IT was so peaceful and serene! the view out over the valley was breathtaking. It felt like we were at a retreat, in all the best ways. Our room was simple but well equiped, clean and full of character. The electrical connections and wifi met the needs without being intrusive to the character of the room. Breakfast was simple but completely adequate - and it fit in with the character of the property. There was nothing at all that needed to be changed for this property. We would LOVE to go back again and highly recommend it."

Great for romantic getaway or for a family trip

"We loved our stay here - a one night get away from our 2 year old who we left with the grandparents. Though once we arrived I had wished he was with us, as there was such an incredible kids program on offer. Even though the place is clearly very kid/family friendly, it still has a beautiful inviting grown up feel, definitely something for everyone. The food was good, the indoor pool lovely, the grounds are peaceful. We'd consider coming back for a proper family holiday in the future."

Beautiful, peaceful stay

"This is a beautiful, peaceful hotel. The rooms are large, quiet, and comfortable, and the staff are wonderful. It would serve perfectly as a retreat and invites meditation. There are no TVs in the rooms, but there's a big TV in a common room. The building also houses artwork and small museums. It's a bit isolated. The restaurant wasn't open the night we were there, but we had a lovely dinner at a restaurant 700 meters away. You can also go to the castle for dinner. The hotel breakfast was wonderful. "

Breathtaking views

"I can't say enough about the location of Castle Window. The views from the back terrace are breathtaking and you walk out the front door to a cobblestone street with lovely restaurants and shops. Jose was accessible and helpful. The house had modern conveniences while maintaining the beautiful historic aesthetic of the location. We definitely recommend staying here!"
