"Booked because it looked pretty on the pictures but the hospitality exceeded what we expected and we enjoyed our stay. So much so, that my boyfriend is asking if we can come back the next time we’re in Japan."

"I would highly recommend this hotel. We had a room with a private onsen and enjoyed sitting in it whenever we wanted. A private breakfast and dinner are included and the food was amazing. No need to pay for expensive Kaiseki. We have never felt so pampered. "

"My wife and I spent our expensive honeymoon night here and we couldn’t be happier! The in room dining and private onsen were a terrific experience and would highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for a traditional stay that isn’t too rough on your wallet. We loved it here!"

"Service was great, room was clean with the private bath. Food was great if your into traditional kaiseki like meals. Location is great, about 2 minutes away from the bus stop and there’s a 24hr convenience store right at the bus stop."

"Wonderful hakone onsen experience! My only complaint would be that some areas seemed to need a little updating. But other than that the rooms were very spacious and there were a lot of amenities included in the cost of the room."

"Staffs are wonderful, and Very fluent in English. They go above and beyond to help customers. I am not particularly good at tech. The staffs helped me downloaded, selected right plan for our Hakone free pass. They also make sure we know the time of our bus. Both the indoor, and outdoor hot springs are beautiful. The restaurant, the breakfast, and dinner is both authentic as well as delicious. Everything is an amazing experience. "

"I like the traditional feeling of the inn. The room had lots of space and the staff was super friendly and spoke english. Two point i found negative was the fact that to be able to shower you have to reserve a slot in the osen and also you will have to walk uphill from the train station."

"No other word yo describe this better than the best hotel. Accomodation, facilities, onsen bath on room. Staff is exceptional perfect, polite, helpful. The breakfast is ok, but if you like Japanese food more then it is perfect. Fully recommend this hotel. Will stay again if come back to Hakone."

"We had the most incredible stay here while visiting Hakone. The location is ideal: a 2 min walk from the main train station and right on the river. Waking up to the sound/view of the river is just magical. The team working here is incredibly nice, hospitable and accommodating. We did the half board and the food was delicious and varied. "beautiful buildings, great onsen, great Japanese restaurant. Not all staff is comfortable with English. "

"The service was exceptional as were the dinners and breakfasts. The insensitive were are well equipped and relaxing after a day of exploring. The property is a short walk from the rope way. The only reason I didn’t give this property a five star is that is is old and in need of renovations ( peeling linoleum and water (?) stains in the toilet area. "

"Our stay was great, it was a beautiful and quiet place. The Onsen itself was perfect. I think the only downside was the food was just ok. We were expecting more food options in the area, but when we realized there wasn’t anything close by, we ate at the hotel, and the food wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great either. "We stopped at Madoka No Modi Ryoken for one nights during our stay in Japan and loved it! The staff were very friendly and attentive and the traditional Japanese breakfast/dinner was amazing. The room and private onsen was relaxing and peaceful and we will definitely be back! "
