Location of the property is excellent - very convenient to Baytowne Warf and the beach. Layout of the property is great as well. We'd stayed in another unit just down the street last year and it was the reason we wanted to come back to the neighborhood.
We were somewhat disappointed at the bare-bones nature of the property when we first arrived. There were no paper towels provided, no coffee filters or coffee supplies at all, and extremely sparse cooking supplies including knives so dull that they barely cut anything. Many of the pots and pans were beyond their useful life - severely scratched or not clean. The coffee maker basket had clearly been broken and was being held together by a twist tie - hardly sanitary.
Honestly, we would have overlooked all of that had it not been for the surprise we got the first morning when we tried to take the golf carts to the beach. We weren't able to get the black cart to start in spite of charging both carts first thing in the morning. After calling the property manager, it quickly became clear that they were well aware of the inoperable cart, noting that we should "just use the other one until Tuesday when the repair team will be out to fix the mechanical issue." Since our check-out date was Monday, that wouldn't exactly help. We specifically chose this property and paid a premium for it because we needed TWO golf carts for the size party we had specified well in advance. The fact that the property manager knew about the issue with the cart and said absolutely NOTHING to us prior to arrival is completely unacceptable. Upon being notified about the other shortcomings of the property, there was no reply. All they offered to do after several irate phone calls asking for a replacement or substitute cart was to offer to refund us $25/day, despite paying over $60/day premium for the two golf carts over other properties that they manage.
It blows my mind that all they had to do was email or call us to let us know that one of the carts wasn't working and proactively offer to offset our cost or get us a replacement. But no, I guess they just thought we'd figure it out on our own and be ok with the land ornament instead of an operable golf cart, as advertised. As much as I loved the neighborhood and the location of the property both this year and last year, I wouldn't rent another property managed by BeachWalk Vacations due to the completely disrespectful and inexcusable handling of this situation.
