I recently stayed at the Ibis Budget Melbourne Airport with my family for a night before our international return flight. While it's perfectly fine for a solo traveler with a backpack, it didn't meet our needs as a family. The room was extremely compact, lacking any real luggage storage space, which made it difficult to manage our belongings. The absence of an elevator meant we had to carry our luggage up the stairs, which was inconvenient.
The check-in staff were friendly and welcoming, which was a positive aspect of our stay. However, the room itself felt more like a barracks or dorm room than a hotel room due to its size and layout.
Given the better airport proximity and superior amenities of the Ibis Styles Melbourne Airport, which was only $20-$40 more per night, we felt that the Ibis Budget was overpriced for what it offered. If you're traveling alone or on a tight budget, this might be a viable option, but for families or those seeking more comfort, I would recommend exploring other options.
