"A nice, clean and tidy hotel. The staff were helpful and friendly. The rooms were clean and well appointed. The styling was classical and quite appealing. The hotel has free access to guests for the seperate men's and women's onsens. It also has a rather nice sitting room with a selection of books (in japanese) to read/flick through. "This hotel is close to the train station, about a 5-10 minute walk. Check in was easy. The room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. It was about a 10 minute walk north from the hotel to get to an area with interesting restaurants and shops. I also like that you can book a room with a washing machine, although I didn't not do so myself. If I visit Matsumoto again, I would definitely look to stay here."

"Turned out to be perfect for an overnight stay. It was only 4 minutes walk from the train station and Izakayas. I had a wonderful view of the snow capped mountains in the morning. "

"I understand Toyoko Inns are not five star luxury hotels but I was still a tiny bit disappointed at how basic the facilities were. The room was tiny but they made good use of the space. The breakfast buffet was very basic but decent and free so what can you expect? Ultimately, the hotel was cheap and it had a great location only a block from the main train station. "Great hotel. Perfect part of town. Easy to drive to and find nearby parking. However, most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept on. "

"The beds are super comfy and the amenities are pretty good. The shower is super hot and a great shower head! It is walking distance of everything and the breakfast is a great healthy option. The only down side was there was no help in getting back to the train station with all of our luggage. We were told that we had to walk. I would be aware of this if mobility is an issue."

"Kamikochi Imperial Hotel is a wonderful place to visit. The area is absolutely beautiful, and the hotel itself has tons of old world charm and has been very well maintained in its 91 years. The only reason I don’t give it five stars is because the dining options are so very overpriced, and the quality was just okay. We made the mistake of not bringing enough cash with us to dine elsewhere, since most places in the area are cash only. There are no ATMs in Kamikochi, so next time we will be more...
