We stayed at Rowan Tree lodge in mid-July and it was a really wonderful getaway.
The location of the lodge was really incredible and in a lovely setting and surroundings for great walks if you fancy some mixed terrain and a few hills. On the drive coming into Shropshire we were instantly amazed by the views, but due to summer weather, the leaves were covering the view that you otherwise would have been able to see from the decking. This similarly caused a struggle getting in/out of the hammock as weeds and nettles were beginning to reclaim the clearing.
The Hot Tub was to die for and gets really hot!! So hot we had to even let it cool down and add more cold water on one occasion before getting in. . . I think the trick is to just keep it ticking over but you really don’t need much to get it going. We were there 4 nights and just about needed an extra bag of logs. The service of these getting brought to us was phenomenal and were with us in about 10 mins of sending a text – A big thank you to the hosts.
As cooking lovers, and staying 4 nights we didn’t want to eat out/get takeaway every evening (although some good recommendations are made in the welcome folder - book early!!), we found the kitchen crockery to be limiting and some meals hard to do with the 1 saucepan and one frying pan we had. There was no oil, salt or pepper so we left ours (hope they come in useful!!) but there are a few shops in Ludlow or a short distance in the car where these can be picked up at when they run out. Coffee, tea and sugar all supplied and the coffee pods were a lovely mid-morning treat.
A lovely brown choc lab came to visit us on a few occasions and is very very well behaved. She came to visit at breakfast but we didn’t know if she was allowed a slice of bacon but this would be handy to know in the welcome pack – also for allergens as I’m sure some dog lovers would love to give a little treat.
Thank you for having us!!
