Located on over an acre of barely-tamed land on the gorgeous Llano River, the Rock Stack is a ruggedly luxurious vacation destination. We’re a place for both the fisherman and the boutique shopper, the explorer and the book-worm, the adults-only getaway and the family-friendly vacation.
About the House:
The Rock Stack is built from giant two-foot thick limestone rocks which make it a truly unique and fun place to stay. The house is roughly 1600 SF and has three bedrooms, three bathrooms, and two large outdoor patios. Two bedrooms are downstairs with king-size beds and ensuite bathrooms (one bathroom opens up into the bedroom and hallway).
The third bedroom is located upstairs and has two extra-long twin beds as well as two fold-up twin mattresses that can be brought out for floor sleeping. The floor mattresses are obviously best for kiddos but by all accounts, they’re actually quite comfortable even for adults. There is a third bathroom and a second living room also upstairs. Please note that the upstairs is essentially an open concept area. The bedroom does not have a door to close it off from the bathroom and living area. The bathroom does have a door.
The downstairs living room has a three-person genuine leather sofa as well as seating for four. There is also a 58” smart TV.
The kitchen is also downstairs. It features full-size appliances (electric oven range, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator with water dispenser, and freezer with ice maker) as well as beautiful concrete countertops and custom-made cabinetry. We offer a fully-stocked kitchen with all pots, pans, and tools needed to fix meals.
The house also has a stackable washer and dryer available for use during your stay.
The River:
We’re located on the banks of the clear and cool Llano river with over one hundred feet of private access. The Llano River, at our location, is over 100 yards wide and offers endless opportunities to roam and explore, either by kayak (we offer two adult kayaks and three child kayaks) or by foot. At the edge of our property is a small but fast-flowing fork of the river that is knee-deep to thigh-deep depending upon the time of year. It’s roughly thirty feet wide. This fork is an awesome spot to plant our river chairs and sit back and relax or watch your little-people play in the water and throw the rocks.
For the more adventurous though, a quick walk over or a quick swim around the rock island will lead to “The Lake.” The Lake is a deep hole of the river approximately seventy yards wide by one hundred yards long. It’s the perfect spot to kayak and fish. If you prefer to explore on-foot, the rock island will lead you upstream for nearly a mile with one-of-a-kind views of the Llano. If you’re looking for a place to get out and explore some barely-touched Texas country, this is the place!
Llano and Castel:
The town of Llano is approximately ten miles east of our location while Castel is ten miles west. Llano is like a mini-up-and-coming-Fredericksburg with a vibrant main-street, wonderful food including up-scale options and award-winning BBQ, distilleries, bars, and breweries. In addition, we often say, “There’s always something happening in Llano” as they do a wonderful job of putting on a variety of festivals, concerts, and other events throughout the year.
Castel is a general store and that’s about it. But that general store serves up some great BBQ, burgers, and puts on some really fun events throughout the year.
