LISBON'S MUNICIPAL TOURIST TAX WILL BE COLLECTED CASH BY CHECK-IN (EUR 4 per person over the age of 13 and per overnight stay, up to a maximum of 7 nights per stay).

Located in the heart of the medieval Moorish and Jewish neighborhood of Alfama, the apartment has a stunning water view over the Tagus estuary. Within walking distance from many of Lisbon's leading museums and monuments, the apartment is in close proximity to local grocers and supermarkets as well as neighborhood restaurants, cafes, bars as well as eclectic shops of every kind.

The apartment is in an 18th century building nestled into a steep slope of one of Lisbon’s hills, 100 meters above sea level. So while its main and private entrance is on the ground-floor, you can enjoy the stunning river view from the second floor balconies on the other side of the apartment, without having to climb any stairs.

The building is facing south, the apartment is sunny and bright all day long. You can sit in the living room and admire Lisbon’s beauty while overlooking red-tiled rooftops that are set against the blue water of the Tagus river.

The apartment is in close proximity to all types of public transportation: tram, bus and subway.

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:
- June 13th is Saint Anthony's day (Lisbon city holiday) and so it is a time of festivities, with traditional parties in the streets all over Lisbon until dawn, mainly in the oldest and most historical neighborhoods. The neighborhood of Alfama (where the apartment is) is one of the main sites of these festivities, with music, dancing, food, and hundreds of people in the streets. These festivities usually take place over a whole week, but mostly on the weekends before and after the 13th, and also on the night of the 12th to 13th of June. Our apartment has double-glazed windows and heavy wooden shutters, but on these days it will be noisier than usual. However, this is a very special time in Lisbon and it is worth joining the party :-).

- We prepare the house with all our care, attention to detail and tailored to our guests. We ask you to look after it with the same care and in the best way possible.

- Respect the neighbours not making too much noise, especially after 10 pm.

- We can be flexible with check-in and check-out timings as long as they do not conflict with other reservations.

- When making your reservation for more than two guests, please note that there is a small extra payment. This will be visible in the breakdown of the total price of the reservation.

- Casa d'Alfama is duly registered in the Tourism Authority of Portugal (#986/AL) and respects Portuguese laws and regulations.

Thoughtful hosts and lovely place
This was a fantastic place! We really loved it, it was comfortable and a brilliant location. The toys they put together for our kids were so thoughtful and the communication throughout was helpful and informative. Only thing that would improve the apartment is air conditioning but there were lots of fans which meant it was cool enough!

Best place to stay with small children
Without a doubt, best place to stay with small children, ages 2 and 4. Fully equiped, felt like home with cooking essentials, high chair, potty, crib, extra beds, toys and childrens books galore. Small private second bedroom for children. Beautiful view of the river. Tons of light and open space. In the center of Alfama, close to great city views, restaurants, trams, fado. We loved our stay and will return!

The apartment is wonderful with little touches that matter when traveling with littles (toys, laundry detergent, excessive towels). The location is incredible with Fado outside your window. The garbage cans, which are directly outside the window, are emptied in the middle of the night (every night), which as many reviews suggest can be noisy.

Cutest apartment in the heart of Lisbon
This apartment is absolutely perfect with an amazing view of the river. It's quiet at night and with the doors open you can hear the Fado performances at the local restaurants. It's within walking distance to plenty of restaurants and cafes. Our personal favorite is the Clara Clara Cafe - the most delicious Portuguese bread with yet another amazing view! We did need to Uber to more of a night life in the Barrio Alto neighborhood but Uber is extremely affordable. Our host was amazing and maintained contact with us the entire trip to make sure our needs were being met. I highly recommend this place!

Fantastic Property and Services
Property is in great location. Alfama district is loaded with restaurants, coffee shops, and Fado open mike places. Can be heard from the property. When researching for places to stay in Lisbon, I couldn't believe all 100+ reviews of the property gave a "5" star rating. Once there, the ratings were confirmed. Starts off with the check-in process. Ana was very thorough and kicked off a very great stay in Lisbon, The property had everything we needed. Highly recommend.

Charming stay in Alfama
Ana and Pedro were lovely and helped us with so many things. First we needed to find a parking lot for our car and they have suggestions. They actually met us at the entrance the neighborhood to show us how to get to the apartment and then Pedro drove with us to lot to leave our car. Great service!! The place was perfect for our needs, except the renters upstairs were loud late into the night. This was no fault of Ana and Pedro. Just unfortunate. Pedro went and talked to the neighbors which helped to quiet things down. Top notch service.

Cute apartment, great location
We enjoyed our stay. The apartment feels smaller than it is because of how the rooms are connected, but it's well-appointed. If you're staying on the twin mattress, know that it's not bad, but it gets bright in that room early, if you were planning on sleeping in. The queen room is nice as well, stays darker, and has a nice dressing area. The bathroom and shower are nice - good water pressure. The location is fantastic - we were able to walk / tram / scooter to just about anywhere we wanted to go. You really can't beat the view! I do wish it had been easier to get to by Uber - note that most had trouble getting to the door and dropped us off up the hill, so we had to navigate a set of stairs with luggage. Our return trip to the airport was arranged by our host (30€, pricey) but went more smoothly.

Delightfully quaint
The property has a different layout, but they utilized the space so well. We were very comfortable. We loved the view of the Tagus out the windows. The apartment was clean as well as the bathroom -but the tub is not friendlynif you are prone to slipping-like me! I will say, our 6 year old locked us out of our apartment on accident and the reaponse from our hosts was immediate very laid back. There were plenty of grocery shops nearby and cafes and they have a binder in the apartment to assist you in finding shops and parks and restaurants! Be prepared to walk! The transportation around the apartment was extremely reliable and efficient, but we found we only used it for our day trips-we mainly walked everywhere! We loved it. We found we had more than we needed within the apartment for cooking and hanging out there on our lazy days. So thankful to have such a nice property to have called home!

Incredible Apartment in the Lovely Alfama Neighborhood
I cannot speak highly enough of this beautiful apartment in the heart of Alfama. My wife and I stayed here for five nights and we loved everything about it. The apartment itself is incredible. It is quite large and hosted the two of us very comfortably. Its views of the historic Alfama neighborhood out the windows and Portuguese balconies are breathtaking. The apartment is stocked with everything you could need. As for the location, it cannot get any better if you are looking to stay in the quieter, less touristy area of Alfama. For my wife and I, we were so glad we stayed in Alfama. This area felt much quainter and less touristy than some of the other areas of Lisbon. At night you could hear fado music from the local restaurants and we often interacted with locals in the neighborhood which was very cool. The walk into the main parts of Lisbon was about 15 - 20 minutes which for us was not bad at all. Ana and the team were incredible to work with and she was there for our every question and request. This apartment is truly a gem in Lisbon.

Lovely well-equipped bolt hole in Lisbon old town
Lovely apartment in the heart of Alfama (old town) part of Lisbon. Extremely well-equipped and homely. It doesn't just have what we consider to be the essentials like a comfortable bed, a fridge and a decent shower but luxuries too including a welcoming bottle of wine, lovely views from the French balconies, a music centre, dishwasher, washing machine and every practical/potentially useful item you could think of including a detailed map of the local walkable area, guidebooks, cookery books, cork screw.....even a first aid kit and umbrella! We didn't cook but the kitchen seemed very well equipped and included those items that are irritating to have to buy like washing up liquid, cooking oil and salt. The tap water is perfectly drinkable (as it is throughout Portugal) but there was also a bottle of water chilling in the fridge. Because the apartment has lots of windows, its very well ventilated so no need for noisy air conditioning at night! Christina the lovely 'landlady' very kindly arranged for a taxi to take us from and to the airport (fixed 15 euros per trip so no problems with getting ripped off by dodgy taxi drivers). She speaks excellent English. Lots of restaurants in easy walking distance. Our favourite was Os Gazeteiros which have a different set meal every evening. Don't be put off by the lack of choice! We didn't have or need a car for our 4 night stay. Trips to Sintra (bit expensive) and Cascais (cheap but lovely) were easy train rides away - the stations are an enjoyable 20-25 min walk away.

August Visit
I shared this apartment with my brother for a 2 night, 3 day stay in Lisbon. It's a fantastic place, right in the heart of Alfama. Clean and comfortable with a water view. We loved the old world feel of the apartment, but with all of it modern conveniences, TV, Wi-fi etc. Location-wise it was a great jumping off point. We explored Lisbon widely from here. We walked everywhere from the apartment with no need for public transport; locally through Alfama, to downtown Lisbon, the Barrio Alta and along the Avenue de Liberdade to the the Parque Eduardo VII. Bruno was a terrific host. Great communication in advance of arrival, met me at 6AM to check me in, very friendly, available for any questions throughout the stay and a ton of information on things to do, places to go, places to eat. etc. I would highly recommend it. Thanks Bruno!
