The property was good except for the door into the room...it drags and was difficult to open...especially when carrying items like luggage as it inly opened about 1/2 way. Also there were no pictures on the wall t..mlookbetterbetter

It is a hotel room without maid service.

You can’t use any of the amenities of the property (like BBQ’s) since those are reserved for hotel guests. Also, found out that the microwave is on the 5th floor and is communal. No shuffle board to be found. The room has a weird smell, too.

The location was great and the hotel staff were very friendly & helpful. The room itself was okay, a lot more dated than the pictures looked in the listing. The bed was kind of sinking on the left side, but the pillows were very comfortable. The sheets had a very polyester feeling. The TV stopped working a couple of times and the smart TV feature wasn't working.The check in/check out process was super smooth, and we got wristbands as our room key. It felt kind of clean, there was an alcohol bottle wedged behind the sink in the bathroom which was a little unnerving and disappointing considering the steep cleaning fee. The view from the room was not like the pictures on the listing, we had a view of the hotel entrance & mountains but no ocean view. There were also no curtains for the windows, only 3 door panels that slid to cover the window, but there were cracks between the panels that let the light in. Would have been better with at least one layer of curtains.

Photo of the bed. The sheets were polyester and there was a dip on the left side. The pillows were very comfortable!

The sliding door panels were the only thing to block the light out, let a lot of light in.

The TV had issues and wouldn't turn off at a certain point. The smart TV feature always had an error message.

Lihue 14 day stay

Luke warm water in shower 50% of time - spoke with Mgt and improved slightly, COLD water in swimming pools, hot tubs in lava rock setting was cool, Nice Long Sandy Beach, beautiful kept grounds, close to Lihue, mattress was too firm, chickens awaken you at 4 am everyday, resort designated smoking area 50 ft from outside balcony, Air freshener prior to arrival was way too aromatic, chickens jump on tables and surround you when eating at poolside, Shave Ice was nice, daily Parking fee of $22.50 was a ripoff, pool towel exchange was great, Driftwood Grill served big delicious portions. Need to have some cleaning scheduled for > 7 day stays other than coming out of guests pocketbook.

NOT HAPPY OVERALL

The property charged me $104.72 for a parking fee. I was not informed of this at the time of booking for 5 nights. There was not a refrigerator in my unit, NOR WOULD THEY ALLOW COOLERS to be brought in to keep drinks or food cold. I WILL NOT BOOK THROUGH VRBO AGAIN.

pictures don't do justice to the resort ...

Staff at Kauai Beach Resort was awesome from the moment I arrived 'til the day I left. However, one huge, major mistake made on behalf of HomeAway, was the fact they did not mention anywhere on my confirmation that there would be a mandatory (and astronomical!!) $25 DAILY parking fee. I was shocked and very upset when the front desk clerk advised me of this. NO WHERE was this disclosed in my transaction. I am still trying to get this rectified with the owner (Molly) of the room but to no avail.

Could have been improved!

The room had issues. The shower would get stuck to "on" requiring intervention several times. The room had a problem with a moldy odor, quite unpleasant. Did not enjoy the "smoking area" for employees was below our patio, could hear loud talking often, smoke filtrated up to our room at times.

Awesome room, awesome price

Very nice room in a beautiful resort! The room had a bit of a musty smell (if you're from the Midwest, think cabin up north smell) but you get used to it, and it didn't affect us at all. Bed was firm and bathroom was very nicely updated in the recent past. Being in the main building was super convenient as we had close access to the free valet, restaurants, and pool area. You can see the ocean from the room- which is absolutely incredible for the price. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again or to recommend this listing to friends and family.

Beautiful Grounds

Loved the pool area it was so nice, The food was ok at the Hotel not much selection. The room really has no ocean view it is way off to the right, nice view of the parking lot. We were not in the room much. We would rent this room again for the money you can not beat it.

Disapointed

We stayed at this resort from February 5 - 14, 2016. The room smelled musky and moldy, we had to sleep with the deck sliding door open at night. when we came to the room and it was closed up tight, it was a bit overwhelming. Other than this, the room was just fine. A basic hotel room. The resort on the other hand was a disappointment from a customer service perspective. The parking fee of $17.50 per night is a bit hard to take, although they do offer Enterprise Rental cars on site for $60.00 per day and may waive the parking fee, which is twice the price from them directly. The pool bar bartender and waitresses where rude and not willing to walk around the pool for drink or food orders until the pool was full of guests. on one specific event i waited for nearly an hour watching the staff giggle and grab ass with each other and nobody bothered to walk around the pool to take customer orders, i then waited at the bar for ten minutes for my order which was never taken, nor was i even acknowledged I left and went back to my lounger across the pool, thinking someone would take notice of my waiting and my leaving the bar side. I then see what i think is a supervisor come up to check on the staff, they were all happy and responsive to customers, i went back, they took my order and i made a formal complaint with the supervisor. On our last night we ordered chicken wings from the bar menu, within an hour I had full on food poisoning and spent the night loosing my stomach. The next morning when we checked out i was still green, i explained this to the clerk. She went in the back room, closed the door and supposedly checked with the Kitchen Manager and advised me that she had my credit card number and the resort would be doing an " investigation" into this matter and if they found a problem they would then credit me the $10.00 for the wings. I was really upset, but frankly not feeling well enough to ask for the General Manager, we paid our bill and left silently. The onsite restaurants where very overpriced along with a restricted menu. $25 breakfast buffet, $18 hamburgers and $48 dinner entree's. In hindsight, I am very disappointed with the customer service of this facility, not once did we feel like a" Valued Guest", on the other hand the price was right and the location is centralized and outstanding for visiting the entire island.

great resort and awesome price

for the budget friendly...this is the perfect kauai getaway. full service hotel (extra pricing daily for maid service, coffee, supplies and daily parking) georgeous grounds, plenty to do and plenty not to. centrally located. Would come back

Great

This place was very nice, inexpensive, and met all my expectations. Such a beautifully, perfectly landscaped land. Everything about this property was so nice, I was in awe the whole time. I have to point out the private beach. Very aesthetically pleasing.

Really nice!!

Super relaxing, no bad reviews here. The inexpensiveness really pays off because we can relocate our expenses elsewhere to a really nice restaurants, cool tours. Support staff was super duper nice. Looking forward to come back again!

fantastic experience!

It was soooo comfy! All the hotel management were super nice, and they were always attentive. You do have to watch out for the extra fees, so read closely to the description! What's great about going through a private owner than the actual resort is how cheap it is! Although you don't get as many perks, the quality is still the same. I would definitely consider coming back.

Resort that's not expensive?!?!?

At first, I thought it was downright crazy how low the price of a resort hotel room is...but I'm glad I booked this room. The owner is always responsive and very nice. You really can't go wrong picking this room. The beach was so nice because it was private. Although it's not a swimming beach, the allure of the ocean is truly magnificent and being isolated there is a very movie-like experience. Loved it. Thank you!

Beautiful

It was breathtaking. All the things that you wanted were there and if you did need something the staff were always attentive. My favorite part was definitely the beach, the closeness of it and how you could be there for hours on end without being disturbed.

All I expected

The pictures of the room were true to the actual room! Very good trip. One of my biggest pet peeve is that stuffy/musky feeling in a hotel room, something to especially look out for in a beach side hotel room. Anyways, the room didn't have that because of the phenomenal cleaning staff. The staff were great, they responded to all my requests and it was an overall enjoyable stay. I'm going to book in the very near future.

Comfortable, feels almost like home!

Let me start off with this -- I'm hard to please and I was very satisfied with this stay! My husband and I traveled there for Christmas for a little romantic getaway, and it was fantastic. The view was pretty good. One of the best things though, was that the owner was ALWAYS RESPONSIVE, and she always made sure that we had the best of the best when it came to services. This is a room I will order again. Thanks Molly!
