2-night stay at Futabaya
Pros: super-friendly staff, fantastic location (2 min from the Kusatsu Onsen Bus Terminal and Yu-batake), super-comfortable mattress & pillows, very clean & quiet room, big-screen TV
Cons: tiny bathroom & small room
I'd definitely stay there again.
I'd try other locations/hotels next time as well.

For foreigners i would suggest this hotel.
Walking distance from onsens and 5 mins drive to kusatsu skii resort!
They have a Free parking
The beds inside the room are comfortable!!
The staff was so friendly, they went above and beyond any service you can imagine! Several of the attendees spoke fantastic English, and made great recommendations from experiencing the town and the numerous onsens around.
The room we had (three beds) was large, plenty of room for all the luggage that comes with an international ski trip. They have several covered parking spots. The rooms are a little outdated, but, charmful.
A business style hotel in an onsen (hot spring) ar
