"Spacious rooms, clean bathrooms and very friendly staff. Self serve laundry was a huge plus. Breakfast buffet had a little of options and was well stocked. We enjoyed our two nights here and would return to the same hotel if ever back in Yakushima. "

"We stayed 4 nights, and enjoyed Onsen everyday, bento box lunch for our days trips and dinner on 3 nights. Staff were very helpful with ideas to explore the island."

"INCREDIBLE ocean view, beautiful garden trail, large two bedroom with tatami space, public bath, free massage chairs. The hotel is not newer, but clean, quiet, good value for the price. Front staff are very nice and helpful."

"What a delightful stay! This was absolutely perfect for my time on Yakushima, and exceeded my expectations. The owner was very welcoming, speaks excellent English, and clearly takes pride in the property, which is in a quiet and scenic spot but a short drive from town and convenient to arrival/departure points. Communication before my arrival was also great. Everything was clean, just as pictured, and well stocked. The beds were probably the most comfortable I slept in during my time in Japan...

"The Pros: The hotel is big, with wonderful mountain and ocean views. Rooms are big. The staff was mostly very courteous. The Cons: Built in the 1980s, the hotel doesn’t appear to have been renovated since then, giving it a “lost in time” feel. Very outdated facilities for charging electronic devices. Beds not comfortable. Food at the restaurant is expensive and mediocre. The hotel is also A LONG WAY from the ferry terminal (50 minutes) and the airport (35 minutes). Without a car, it would not...

"The place is very quiet. I initially wanted to hike the Jomon Sugi trail, but with limited time and insufficient preparation, it wasn't possible. However, Kentaro was so very helpful in suggesting an alternative trekking itinerary. Hopefully I wasn't too annoying with my endless questions :)"

"We absolutely loved our stay at Hana Mana Cottage. We stayed for two night and wished we had longer. The property was amazing - the cottage is situated in an incredibly well kept garden in beautiful Yakushima. It is a short(ish) walk to the Senpiro Falls. "Seriously don't stay here!!! First it's not really a hotel, it's a guest house which run by a man and woman. The place is hard to find but that's not actually the real problem. The attitude of the guy is very rude and unprofessional that I couldn't believe. Best experience of a Japanese hotel.

"The best experience I’ve had at a hotel in Japan. I have a halal diet and the staff were able to cater for this in the half-board meals provided. The staff in the cafeteria were great and I felt like I had a lovely experience being fussed over (they treated everyone kindly). The front desk staff were great and spoke good English. There is a free shuttle service to the airport but you have to let them know in advance when your flight is (if you’re arriving, notify them by email as they don’t respond to messages made through hotels.com). The hotel is also next to an important bus stop that takes you direct to Shiratani Unsuiko and also takes you to the place you have to make a transfer for Yakusugi land. I also loved my tatami room which had a spacious bathroom. "

"I had a great stay at Minshuku Manten! The place is nice, quiet, & clean. They serve a lovely breakfast & the host is extremely nice. In regards to convenience, it’s 5 mins to the bus stop. But nothing is super convenient in Yakushima if you don’t have a car. Would recommend this place ☺️ "
