We spent a nice long weekend at this cute property. The pond out back was perfect for fishing and we enjoyed just lounging around and reading in the hammock or rocking chairs on the balcony
This place was such an amazing respite for my nature loving family! Everything was clean and cozy, the pond was GREAT for family fishing and we were close enough to attractions like orchards, Shenandoah National Park and family in Charlottesville. Will definitely be back - hopefully when it’s not 99 degrees!!
We chose to visit the Charlottesville area for spring break. The cottage was lovely and had everything we needed for our stay. Every room in the house was comfortable and nicely decorated. It was a short drive to Monticello, downtown, and the wineries. The pond was a bonus…my kids were pumped when they caught a few fish. Thank you for sharing your home.
It was a cozy cottage stay with plenty of room for two couples. Having the second kitchen and fridge downstairs was a bonus. Sadly, it was too cold to take advantage of the outdoor areas but it would be a great place in warmer weather to grill and sit around the fire.
We had a wonderful stay. The cottage was awesome! Very bright interior & incredible setting in the woods!! We grilled out one night & had dinner with a fire for perfect ambiance. We look forward to coming back. Good location for visiting vineyards & Charlottesville. The drive into the property is beautiful as well.
Just far enough up a winding country road to be able to enjoy the beauty of the area away from traffic and noise. Well appointed, very clean and more spacious that the website photo appears. Perfect location and amenities for our group!
We loved everything about our stay at this beautiful cottage for my nephew's wedding at Castle Hill Cider that is just down the road. It was in the perfect location, wonderfully decorated, well appointed, and even had an amazing amount of storage for the wedding cake and cupcakes that I had made for the big event. The views were stellar, the hosts were very communicative, and I can't wait to return. Choose this place to stay every time!
The cottage was very cute. It definitely could have been cleaner, as there were waxy lip prints on the bedroom window and a few dark smudges on the walls of the bedroom and bathroom. Also, it wasn’t made clear in the description that most of the one-lane, curvy road leading to the property was dirt/gravel. If it had been raining, it would have been pretty treacherous in a small car. My SUV handled it fine, but it did get very dirty. Overall, the property was quiet, comfortable and fairly well maintained. It served our purpose well.
My husband, our 2 dogs, 4 friends, and myself recently had the pleasure of staying at this VRBO in Charlottesville, VA, for a wedding at Castle Hill Cidery. We loved the views from the back porch, with sounds of birds and a deer sighting. The interior was clean, beautifully decorated, and equipped with modern amenities. The location was perfect, just a short drive away from downtown Charlottesville and the area's renowned wineries and cideries. The hosts were incredibly accommodating and friendly (my husband ran into them when he went for a 6 mile run out the back door and down the gravel road). I can't wait to return to this charming retreat, and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a tranquil escape.
We came up for a wedding and on our way up the host for the VRBO we had reserved (a month and a half ahead of time) canceled on us! I was in panic mode on the phone with VRBO customer service and immediately started looking for another house. We came across this listing and I messaged the host, she responded right away and worked with the VRBO people to get us In. They went above and beyond to help us out on such short notice! I recommend this cottage to everyone it is the cutest little cottage with beautiful scenery!
So charming, the pictures don’t do it justice. The location is ideal for exploring Charlottesville. You feel tucked away in the mountains while you’re only 5-20 minute from vineyards, trails, museums and restaurants. We’ll most definitely be back.
A few friendly notes:
1) take your own fishing gear. It’s so fun, we caught a ton of little fish!
2) the downstairs is cold. Take extra heavy clothes to wear and slippers. It has a stone floor in the basement.
3) There aren’t night lights, if you have kids, pack your own.
Definitely recommend!
Stonemont Cottage is adorable and fit what we needed for our stay. The upper deck looking over the valley and pond was the absolute best! We traveled with our 15 year old who loved walking her dog down the lane and watching fireflies and deer. Spent 1 evening watching 3 deer in the pond, yes in it, eating and swimming.
Small issue with Netflix not working after the 1st day, not a big deal since we only tried to watch one other night for a movie. Needed hand soap in the bathroom dispenser. Otherwise everything was there you would need. If you drink coffee be sure to bring some regular barrel filters.
The area is gorgeous. Checked out Keswick Vineyards which was lovely. Visited St Isidore the Farmer Church for weekly mass, then a day at Monticello, and a drive to Skyline Drive. We would recommend them all if the schedule allows.
Hope to be back some day!
We had a wonderful stay at this charming cottage in Keswick over Labor Day weekend. The outdoor space was perfect for relaxing — we loved dining at the table outside and spending evenings around the fire pit. The location was also ideal for exploring the area; we enjoyed visiting Monticello and Carter Mountain Orchard during our trip. A peaceful, comfortable getaway that made our holiday weekend truly special!
It was a great property. Loved the nice surroundings and decor. There were some long black hairs on the bedding in one bedroom upstairs and the headboard on the downstairs bedroom creaked loudly with the slightest movement. Please tighten or WD 40 it. Otherwise a really lovely property and would stay again.
My family stayed for a few days and really loved the cottage and surroundings. Lots of deer to watch from the porch with a coffee in the morning! Would highly recommend.
Clean! Great spacious house. Laundry, clean towels and sheets, shampoo/soap, dishwasher detergent, laundry detergent, coffee filters all supplied. Important to note that the house is on top of a mountain down a steep single lane dirt road. Definitely take the 4 wheel drive and would be hairy in the winter. Cell service is nonexistent but WiFi makes communication possible. Nearest stores are 15mins away so highly recommend a grocery run before arrival. Great getaway spot.
Great place, a lot of nature. One suggestion would be that f you are to promote the catch and release pond, either advise to bring your own fishing equipment or perhaps provide a pole or two.
We traveled for graduation at Liberty University, and this place was great for our late arrival time. It cut the driving down, and then we drove to graduation the following morning. The space was surprisingly more spacious than we expected. The pond was terrific, and we enjoyed time at the cottage as a family.

The stink bugs were bad and already in house when we arrived..
I wish we had stayed longer! Even though we didn’t really get to enjoy all the amenities this place had to offer, we will certainly be repeat customers. Thank you for having us.
