The Papakea Resort is a great location. Walking location to some Kaanapali beaches, close to black cliff rock, and great for a quick grocery walk at ABC store. Also close to some popular restaurants like Maui Fish Market.
Down sides, I thought there was going to be a full tub, but it's definitely a standing shower. The first night we checked in we rinsed our feet and noticed the tub wasn't draining, but at 7:30pm it was just a security guy working the front desk that didn't quite understand what we were saying. I emailed vacasa and they were quick to respond the following day. We were out on the road to Hana, so we gave them permission to enter the room without us there to fix it. Another downside and probably why the drain was clogged, the first time we used the laundry machine my clothes came out with so much sand (we hadn't come near a beach yet), so I'm sure it's leftover from the previous renters. Also note, with the bamboo curtains, it's not really private from downstairs we could totally see inside with the lights on through the slits of the curtains.
The location is great and with covid we did a lot of take out meals and ate them on the balcony for a great view. The resort was decorated for the holidays which was cute as well. The room does provide internet and cable and we bought our own detergent for the laundry and coffee and creamer for the coffee maker.
It's good for two people (i know you can opt for 4) but the surf board dining table is really just good for two people. $17/day resort fee for parking, but we were able to park right in front of our room.
We didn't get a chance to utilize the tennis court, putting green, or shuffleboard but there were two large pools and hot tubs. I do believe there are a lot of kids on the resort, the balcony/bed is right next tot he pond and putting green so we woke up every morning to screaming children but that couldn't be helped. Also on one of the nights we couldn't tell if it was the people next door or upstairs but they were hammering or knocking for hours (also not the fault of Vacasa) but it makes me think the walls are thin.
Per reviews, looks like the house used to provide a lot more boogie boards and snorkels, but we had two towels and one boogie board. Thankful for the laundry machines we washed the towels daily.
