Host does not seem welcoming
I booked this property before reading reviews and don't know what others may have said. Here is our experience. 1.Every communication with the host was through the app. full of information about fines or extra charges if we didn't comply with every rule. (Have stayed at many VRBO properties with no issue as value our hosts and respect their property. Here, we were not treated as trustworthy. 2. No flexibility about check in and check out times Theirs are more restrictive than any other of the properties I have rented on this site. Very insistent about payment of $50 for an extra 2 hours. Every message contained a new warning about an extra fee for another rule. 3. Upon arrival (at 3:30 for a 5 check in when previous guests had a 10 am check out), we sent 7 messages through the app until 5 pm as we drove around with dogs and 10 year all needing a break. Only message we got was about paying another $50. 5. Finally at 5, we called VRBO to get in. Host said they had been messaging us through the app - we didn't get these. They had our phone number but didn't bother to call. Oops - sorry!! 6. House was clean but dirty paint, shabby lamp shades, almost no plugs, confusing light switches and sparse dishes and cutlery - clearly a bare bones deal. One comfortable chair and a nasty looking bathroom sink. 7. Final message was full of fines ad warnings. Only 2 "hospitable" sentences in the 14 total from the host. Thumbs down!!!
