Overall we really enjoyed our trip to Hawaii, but we spent most of our time away from the house. Upon arrival, it was very warm inside, even with all of the windows open and fans running; after the first day, the weather cooled off a bit and got cloudier, which seemed to help with the indoor temperature for the rest of our stay. While some may very much enjoy the charm/rustic nature of this house, it wasn't exactly what we were expecting - the frogs at night were extremely loud, we dealt with flying termites and ants in the bedrooms and kitchens, and we encountered multiple geckos in the kitchen, which left their droppings on various surfaces (and if not cleaned up promptly, a stream of ants would soon be seen). A cat also came by every time we ate a meal in the home, which was a bit of a nuisance. On the plus side, it was located very close to downtown Hilo and Rainbow Falls, and it was about a 45 minute drive to Volcanoes National Park (which was awesome!). Overall it wasn't a great fit for us, and we would not stay again. However, if you're into more of a camping/rustic feel, I think you'd be quite satisfied.
