Family Vacation

We enjoyed our time at the lake at this beautiful location. The house was well stocked, which made it easy to settle in. It was easy to communicate with the owners, and they graciously accommodated a last minute pontoon rental request. The house was lovely and the property felt private so was a great place to relax and create new family memories. We would love to go back.

Fabulous well detailed cottage

The home is spotless and perfectly appointed. Two rooms are cozy but have great storage with dressers and closets! Kitchen is spacious and great place to gather. Screened porch is a complete bonus and picturesque. Lake is amazing and clean. Weed free entrance.

Wonderful family lake vacation!

Everything about this property is just perfect. Our family has an annual lake vacation we look forward to and this is the ideal place. We love the cozy feel, being able to cook for a large group and plenty of room to relax and visit. We are already lookng forward to our next stay!

Scenic and peaceful

We had a wonderful time here, loved the up north cabin experience with all the amenities of home. Beautiful place to stay that nicely accommodated our family of nine and our Golden Retriever. Durphee Lake was clear, warm and great for swimming. We will definitely be back.

Magical Spot for a Winter Cabin Stay!

This home is beautiful and wonderfully equipped. Very spacious for our group of 6 adults and 3 young children. The lake and property are beautiful as well. The decor is wonderful and we especially loved the piano and spacious kitchen island! Would absolutely return!

The property was just as it was listed we had a wonderful time Durfee Lake is a beautiful lake with the sand bottom that our kids totally enjoyed along with the big raft that was out in the lake. Best Vacation Rental

We had a wonderful week with great fishing, beautiful clear water, and an abundance of nature. The log cabin lake home was so clean and spacious. After renting other properties for our yearly family gathering each summer for the last 25 years, this was by far the nicest home we have ever enjoyed! We will definitely be returning next year. We had a wonderful time. The house is beautiful and defintily gives you the cabin/cottage feel. Great sand beach for the kids to play. Water is a little under waist deep at the end of the dock which is very nice for new swimmers. Lake is quiet and clean. Interior furnishings and decor was very well done. Comfortable beds and the perfect place for rest and relaxation!

Great Fall Getaway Cabin

Perfect property for a few friends to spend an extended fall getaway. Close to Hayward, quiet location right on the lake. The cabin had perfect sized rooms for us to gather, play games, cook etc. Loved the gas fireplace and living room area! Had a small issue with the furnace, but Joan and Jim responded right away and had someone come quickly to resolve it.

Dream vacation spot

I had stayed here before for a weekend with friends and knew it would be the perfect spot for our family's annual summer vacation. Spotlessly clean; comfortable and cozy; a large kitchen with every bowl, pan and utensil you could possibly need; lots of privacy but not isolated; a crystal clear and quiet lake just steps from the back door, perfect for hours of swimming, canoeing, floating, and fishing; a yard large enough for lawn games, outdoor meals, reading in the Adirondack chairs, and gatherings at the fire pit; and a screened in porch perfect for morning coffee. I love this place and hope to stay again.

Our week-long stay at Runamuk Roost was great. The description of the cabin and amenities was spot on. I always bring my own knives and a few specialty pans, like a big stock pot and a stove-top griddle. But the kitchen was well stocked. We were 8 people: 2 grandparents, their sons and their spouses, a 21-month old toddler, a 10-month old baby, and a dog. It is a very nice, very beautiful and peaceful setting. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The property has a beautiful western view across a 198 acre lake. We watched sunsets from the end of the dock or gathered around the fire pit above the beach. The lake has a breeding loon pair. They had 2 loonlets. Don't miss the chicken-fried steak at the Hayward Family Restaurant or the pastries at Firehouse Bakery and Deli in Hayward. It was a wonderful family week in a wonderful setting.

Charming house in the woods

My husband and I shared the house with four adult family members. We were all happy with the amount of space available for each couple. Comfortable beds, and clean bathrooms. The entire home is clean, tidy, and is decorated in a cozy, backwoods theme. They were generous with amenities, such as the dock, outside grill, large backyard for yard games, camp fires under the starry nights of Northern WI, and relaxing nighttime conversations in the screened in porch. The kitchen had pretty much everything that we needed to make our breakfasts and dinners. The neighborhood was easy to walk and bike; it felt like our private park. The home is about a ten minute drive to Hayward. We would definitely consider staying here again. Would love to rent this home in the winter time during a major snowstorm...very cozy!!

Amazing and Peaceful

Property is gorgeous. The kitchen has a large center island for preparing food and hanging out. The house has woods on both sides and is on a dead end street. Very little boat traffic and the sandy shallow beach area was perfect for our 3 year old granddaughter. We saw 7 loons and a variety of ducks. Loved the fact that it felt secluded yet was close to downtown Hayward, grocery store, and restaurants. We would definitely rebook and recommend this property.
