Perfect home base for family adventures! Gorgeous, private, clean! 20 min to FLG

In the middle of it all, yet away from it all... Elk Meadow Cottage is truly the best of both worlds. Our house is 5 miles north of I-40 and bordered on 3 sides by the Kaibab National Forest, giving you privacy, peace, and quiet. Yet, it is also conveniently located just 20 minutes from Flagstaff and Williams and just over an hour from the Grand Canyon and Sedona! There is so much to do and see in Northern Arizona and Elk Meadow Cottage is the perfect home base for your adventures.

Our Cottage is nicely furnished, has new, top quality linens, and is kept in immaculate condition. We disinfect and sanitize thoroughly between guests. We have many fun outdoor activities as well, including a hammock, slack line, swing, frisbee golf, and horseshoes.

The master bedroom features a king bed (with new mattress) and adjoining bath with jetted soaking tub. Upstairs are 3 more bedrooms plus a 2nd full bath. Kids love sleeping and playing in the "secret" loft space.

Perfect location for your base camp for all the attractions and natural wonders that Northern Arizona has to offer. Access to the Grand Canyon, Sedona, Slide Rock Park, Polar Express & North Pole Experience, Grand Canyon Railway, 5 area fishing lakes, and several golf courses.

Relax by the fireplace with a book or enjoy one of the many family friendly movies and games provided. BBQ on our outdoor grill and dine on the deck under the pines. Cool, fresh, pine scented mountain air in this wooded setting in the Kaibab Nat'l Forest at 7500 ft. The home is located in an area known for wildlife viewing, views of the San Francisco peaks, and access to miles and miles of hiking / biking / cross country skiing trails.

All the creature comforts you expect in a fine vacation home are here for you and are detailed in the property description.

Please read through our reviews. Our guests LOVE the property!

**Please note that we have 3 security cameras mounted on the front of our house, which provide surveillance of our driveway.

Grand Canyon and Sedona hiking trip
Clean and comfortable, had everything we needed and more! Friendly and efficient communication with host, simple check-in and check-out. We so enjoyed our stay here - the cottage feels so warm and welcoming and had plenty of room for our group of 8. We loved the peaceful, secluded setting while just a short drive to Flagstaff and Williams and right at one hour to both Grand Canyon NP and Sedona hiking trails. The cottage has a well-appointed and organized kitchen to make cooking for a group easy, and has many thoughtful touches that made our stay so pleasant, like a kind friend had prepared a special place just for us. Thank you!

Great Retreat in Parks AZ
We really enjoyed the stay in your VRBO. We used this as our base for Elk season. It was perfect. Everything in the kitchen was marked well. It was well stocked with everything. Check in was very easy. We had some youngsters join us over the weekend. They loved the loft and thanks for all the activities/games/other thing to do. I would highly recommend this place. And will stay here on our next trip to Parks. Also, the flying squirrel that goes after the bird feeder is the best entertainment in town!

Great Place to Stay Near Grand Canyon for Big Groups!
We really enjoyed our stay here as a group of friends coming to relax, and see the Grand Canyon. It was very clean, nice big cozy rooms and beds, and a big open living room, kitchen and dining room area. We loved all the wildlife we got to see, and the fact that it was right next to a trailhead! had everything we needed, coffee, hot water, clean bathrooms, quiet, soft towels, and privacy for bigger groups. Will definitely have to come back again!!

Peace and Convenience, Perfect for Families
My husband and I took our 2yo son up to this wonderful cabin to escape the heat and celebrate his 2nd birthday. The moment we got there, there were Tonka trucks waiting on the front porch and we knew we picked the perfect spot! It is far enough away we had serenity and peace, but a quick drive to Williams and Flagstaff. The place was incredibly clean and well stocked. The upstairs loft was so fun and our son couldn’t get enough. The backyard is right next to a trail which we utilized several times. This is the perfect relaxing spot for anyone, but has many amenities, games, toys movies and space that a family would enjoy.

Perfect Escape
I stayed here with my two daughters, who are 17 and 5. My husband and two friends were hunting from a camp nearby, and they came to the cabin every few days to have a meal and hang out for a while. We absolutely loved this cabin and had a wonderful time. Things we loved: the kids' loft and playroom, the well-stocked kitchen, the items that were included - like paper goods , soap, and pantry items. We loved the responsiveness of our host Emily. We loved being able to walk right out of the yard and onto a hiking trail that went to beautiful places. The house was lovely and clean, and the owners have thought of so many details to make a stay nice. We really enjoyed it so much.

Great vacation home!
There was 8 of us with 4 teenagers and the house was plenty big with all the details you could think of. The WiFi is not great, but it forced the kids to hang out with us! The thoughtfulness of the owner to provide instructions for everything, games, everything you need in the kitchen, and bathrooms was so nice! We did a lot of driving and it was a great house to come back to!

Perfect place in the mountains.
My family and I stayed at this property because it was a perfect distance away from the Grand Canyon railway. I didn’t expect this property to be one of the best parts of our trip. My daughter is nine years old and was in awe from the minute we walked in. From the playroom downstairs, the loft and bunk bed with all the toys she could dream of, and to all the toys that were outside, it seems that everything was thought of. We were lucky enough to be there when it snowed and it was absolutely beautiful. My daughter had never experienced snow before and there were sleds and toys for her to use. It definitely created a core memory for her. The house was well labeled and instruction manual had pictures and were extremely clear. The only downfall was that that the Internet wasn’t great, but that’s to be expected when you were tucked away next to the mountains. We would definitely return and stay here again!

Everything you need for kids!
We had 4 adults, and 3 kids under 3 during our stay & had more than enough space for everyone! We forgot a couple of items for the kids but the cabin ended up having everything we needed (white noise machines, stools in the bathrooms). We didn’t even have to break out our own toys because the toy room was fully stocked. Check-in and check-out processes were super clear! Some other things that surprised us: WiFi works for browsing but not for streaming. Keurig is available with an option to add your own grounds. Firewood was provided. There’s a cool kids loft in one bedroom. Thanks for a great stay!

Perfect property for a family getaway
This house has it all. It’s clean, inviting, and the land surrounding it is just so beautiful! There is a trail right behind it that takes you through the beautiful pine trees. The outdoor play area and play room was much enjoyed by our two year old son. There’s enough room for a family of ten easily, the four of us enjoyed it very much ! Not to mention Emily is very good at communicating and very sweet. We will definitely be returning in the near future with grandma and grandpa !

Home was lovely, clean, with a large great room and enough room for 6 adults not to feel like we were on top of each other! We didn't lack for anything - from beds to a well stocked kitchen. The wrap around porch was especially nice. We also enjoyed the hiking trail behind the house and the quietness of the surrounding area. The owner Emily was accommodating, quick to answer any questions and very nice. Our experience rates this place definitely worth staying at again!

Find a better place!
I have never written a negative review in the past. The way Emily, who owns this place, acted prompted me to write one. The property is old and need a lot of updates. The sink food disposal was not working, and the water in the sink was building up. Several rooms on the first floor were getting too hot, when other rooms, especially on the second floor were still cold. The security system had no power, so our family was not safe at night, if someone decided to break in. In some areas in the backyard, the barbed wire fence was damaged, and the wires were on the ground, which risks injury. The road next to the property has a metal water drainage. Every time a car passes over the drainage you can hear loud noise, which is bothersome at night. The fence on both sides of the road prevents you from entering the forest, so you can only walk along the road. We walked one day for fresh air, but had to return because the asphalt ended hundred yards northward form the property and the dirt road was too dusty when cars pass. The Grand Canyon was over an hour away. Now, the worst part: The property has cameras, and you feel that you are under surveillance. The owner brought up some issues claiming that her neighbor told her, but that was not true, she monitors guests through those cameras. The closest neighbor was more than a hundred yards away on the opposite side of the road. I don’t want to continue about other minor issues. We will not return to this property ever.

Peace and quiet for a crowd
This old farmhouse was adorable. It was quirky, cute and clean (and I have high standards for cleanliness.) My family of four, along with Grandma and Grandpa stayed, and there were still beds to spare. It was so roomy! We found the kitchen well stocked with everything a person could need, down to plastic wrap and tupperware containers of all sizes. We appreciated all the little extras, like ample kleenex, shampoo and coffee. We loved seeing the Kaibab squirrel and all the birds at the feeder during breakfast. The wood burning stove was cozy. Highly recommend.
