Witness a superb panorama of the Yosemite Valley from this viewing point and spot soaring canyons, plunging falls and granite cliffs along the rugged valley skyline.

Enjoy one of Yosemite National Park’s most enthralling views from Glacier Point, an outlook area that presents a sweeping scenic vista. See some of the Yosemite Valley’s most distinctive landmarks from the viewing area and go hiking, bird watching, stargazing or cross-country skiing in the majestic surrounding landscape.

Explore the Glacier Point overlook and try to identify the landmark formations in the valley. Find the distinctive granite outcrops of Half Dome, Clouds Rest and other rugged peaks of Yosemite’s high country, as well as Yosemite Falls, Tenaya Canyon, Little Yosemite Valley, Nevada Fall and Vernal Fall. Wander around the viewing area and use the interpretive signage to learn about this glacially formed landscape. Take photographs of the mesmerizing outlook. You can also walk to nearby Washburn Point to see closer views of Vernal and Nevada falls.

Experience a range of activities from Glacier Point. Take a bus to Glacier Point and hike down to Yosemite Valley via the Four Mile Trail, a magnificent 4.8-mile (7.7-kilometer) hiking trail that winds around the steep rock formations. You can also follow the Panorama Trail from Glacier Point or hike to Sentinel Dome. Spot diverse birdlife or wait for the sun to set to see a magnificent array of constellations.

In winter, cross-country ski the 10.5 miles (16.9 kilometers) one-way from Badger Pass to the viewing area and experience the groomed and tree-lined trails of the Yosemite Ski & Snowboard Area (YSSA). Camping is permitted in several locations in winter. Make a reservation to use the Ostrander Ski Hut for accommodations.

Join one of the ranger and interpretive programs at Glacier Point to learn about the scenery and experience new insights into the wilderness.

Drive to Glacier Point within 1 hour from Wawona or Yosemite Valley between May and October. You can also pay to ride a tour bus to and from Yosemite Valley. During peak periods, visitors may be required to ride a free shuttle from the YSSA. Check at the park entrance upon arrival.
