Wonderful Seaside Retreat

Awe Inspiring Perfection
Put this on your bucket list! While everyone stages their property for the photos, this may be the one property that is anti-staged! The House of the Ocean Sun absolutely exceeds the amazing pictures and write-up in every way. Views are epic. The property is immaculately maintained and the kitchen is fully equipped—it even has an espresso machine that converted us away from pods. This beautiful property made a very special trip for us worry free. Thank you to the hosts for making this possible.

Best VRBO ever!
Stunning views, beautifully appointed home, enjoyed every part of our stay from sunrises in the Adirondack chairs to sunsets in the hot tub. Kitchen had all amenities we needed for meals. The coffee bar with espresso machine, multiple types of coffee beans and syrups were a great touch. Champagne was chilled and welcoming when we arrived. We saw whales, dolphins, and deer all from the back deck . We will be back!

Amazing Seaside getaway with all amenities
We had an absolutely amazing time with the view and all of the great amenities the house had to offer. We found ourselves staying in more than going out! Kitchen is fully stocked and ready for any type of cooking or dessert making that one wants to do! Highly recommend staying at this property, secluded, quiet, and beautiful. I know I will be back.

Incredible property on San Juan Island
Wow, what a stunning place! The house itself is wonderful, extremely comfortable and cozy with pretty much everything you could want. Having coffee beans on hand was a great touch to make it easy to have a great cup of coffee while admiring the fantastic view. While the house itself is wonderful, the view is that much better. The large porch and additional chairs down closer to the water made it easy to just chill when not out enjoying the rest of what San Juan Island has to offer. We would absolutely love to come stay again!

This property had many modern amenities., from the cozy fireplace, fancy shower, appliances to the hot tub with amazing view. We did have someone using the living room pull out couch, so it would be nice to have shades or curtain, for better sleep. Otherwise everything was great. We even saw a few dolphins, seal and deer!

Wonderful weekend getaway, and loved our stay on the island. Everything was well equipped for our stay. This is definitely minor, but you should get a new can opener. The one in the house last oks lovely, but is not functional.

We loved our stay. We VRBO often and this tops the list. Not just because the house was beautiful and in a beautiful location, but also because the hosts thought of everything (so we didn’t have to)! So many details, niceties, and it included everything you wish all rentals would include—spices, olive oil, TP, paper towels, laundry soap, dish and dishwasher detergent, literally everything. Oh, and we were greeted with a hand-written welcome note and a bottle of champagne on ice! Truly 5 stars all the way around.

Amazing Place and Memorable Stay!
We are a family of 5 - My wife and I + 3 older kids. 5 night stay. From the moment we drove up and walked in, we were in awestruck. The location is ideal and the view is amazing! On the water and isolated, yet just 10 min from downtown Friday Harbor. Super comfortable and modern with all the supplies you need for a memorable and relaxing stay. Especially loved the espresso machine, vinyl record player, hot tub and grill! Appreciated the extra amenities and touches too - hot tub towels, extra coffee and espresso beans, laundry and dishwasher detergents, and champagne on ice upon arrival! 😊 We would definitely stay again and recommend to anyone!

The View
From the moment you walk into the house, the view will take your breath away. The home is exactly as pictured … beautiful, clean, well stocked, and every effort has been made by the owners to make your stay as comfortable as possible. We are two couples celebrating our 50th wedding anniversaries and we could not have asked for a more magical place to spend this special time! On our last day, we saw a pod of Orcas from our deck!!! Just what we needed!
Perfect and relaxing location. The house was immaculate and exactly as pictured and the hosts were very responsive to our questions even on this holiday weekend. This was our first trip to San Juan Island and we couldn’t have asked for a more wonderful experience. The one bummer was the listen had pictured and mentioned a ping pong table as one of the amenities and we were looking forward to that as a family. The host did explain the last minute change once we inquired. And the details the hosts put into this home (champagne on arrival, lovely music playing, lavender, fabulous espresso machine to name a few) more than made up for this one detail. The view was spectacular.

Reviewer Comments: We walked in and promptly decided to cancel our activity plans for the next day -- we were just so in love with the home and wanted to stay & enjoy it! The home is close to Friday Harbor without being too close, very quiet and restful. We loved sitting on the deck in the early morning hours (well, really all parts of the day). Our bird app identified 7-10 different types of birdsong. The home was beautifully designed and furnished and we used the fireplace everyday. I'd love this for my own home. I'm already planning to return next summer! This did not impact us, but I do want to call out the bedroom doors for those who may have stronger privacy needs (eg couples). The upstairs bedroom is its own distinct space but it does not have an actual bedroom door (although the upstairs bathroom does have a door). The main floor bedroom has a barn door which covers the door but still has the typical gaps above and to the sides. We didn't hear much, just some talking sometimes, but ymmv.

Reviewer Comments: The House of the Ocean Sun is a design lovers dream!Beautiful finishes and comfortable furnishings plus very tasteful artwork make this house a pleasure to spend time in. The hot tub, barbecue and outside spaces are great and even though it was a bit chilly when we visited, the view from the living room made us feel like we were outside all the time. Very nice house but be aware that there is a steep spiral staircase to reach the master suite upstairs which someone with less than agile abilities might find challenging. Our family likes to cook and there were some essentials missing from the kitchen like a variety of pots and pan sizes, a garlic press and working can opener and other kitchen tools. I mentioned this to the rental agents and they said they would attend to it. All in all, a very sweet spot!

In the House of the Ocean Sun, I am thrilled to say that the home met and exceeded my expectations in every respect!The home is exactly as it's pictured and described; it's gorgeous, clean, incredible views, high-end everything. And a delightful bonus is that literally everything in the home is labeled, light switches, cabinets, towels, kitchen drawers so it was incredibly EASY to find anything I needed. I just loved that as sometimes I spent hours just trying to figure out what goes where and, of course, forget where to put things afterwards.The hot tub is the best I've ever used at a VRBO property. It's serviced and maintained and it's HOT - 104 degrees - and the view of the Salish Sea is unmatched.Also, San Juan Property Management did a wonderful job communicating and they were responsive to everything we needed. This property is expensive, but well worth the value. I highly recommend it!
