This is a wonderful, authentic Maine summer ‘camp’ and we had a great week here. The pond access was easy to launch kayaks from, we used the provided sit on top kayaks and rented a few more traditional kayaks and enjoyed the pond, fishing and the diving rock almost every day. We did Acadia 2 days and the drive was just eh, it took about an hour both days, but if you want lake and not tidal waterfront, which we did, this property is about as close as you can get. The outdoor shower was a hit with the kids, the beds were comfy, and the loft was the perfect kids space. Numerous places are available for firewood close to the cabin, we had a outdoor fire every day, most days mornings and evenings. We were a little worried about no AC, but the Maine weather was BEAUTIFUL and the one day it did reach mid-80’s and the house got stuffy and warm in the afternoon, by 10 pm with fans in the windows (3 are provided, we brought 2 more) it had cooled to a comfortable sleeping temp both upstairs and downstairs. Our only ‘complaint’ was that the stove sits in the middle of the kitchen and it makes it HOT when you use the oven. Not a huge deal; we will definitely return and plan stove top meals as opposed to oven dinners, but just for planning purposes don’t use the oven on hot days. One suggestion, we got a cheap utility line at Walmart and strung it up between 2 pines to hang wet suits and towels on as the kids swam more than we expected, and it was great to dry stuff quickly and protect the cabin from water damage. We loved this trip, my teens and tween said it was their favorite vacation ever, and we definitely plan to return,
