The Spa Lodge is a great place for a relaxing vacation and is situated on a country lane halfway between Asheville & Hendersonville. More than enough space for the 3 of us in our party (comfy beds!)- the way the space is laid out, would be ideal for grandparents traveling with a family with children.
Suggested itinerary for those of you doing a weekend stay from this location: We arrived on a Friday, and after getting groceries at Ingles conveniently located on Rt. 25, we spent the evening enjoying the hot tub and steam sauna (gently jiggle the timer switch if resetting the machine doesn't get it up and running).
On Saturday, my partner and his son spent the day exploring Hendersonville while I had a badly needed spa & reading day at the house. The back deck is wonderfully large and I enjoyed the space for doing some yoga, as well as meandering around the deep backyard. For Saturday evening, I made dinner reservations for us at Tupelo Honey South Asheville, then we drove to the NC Arboretum to explore the gardens (parking was free by the time we got there!). On Sunday, checkout was at 10am, and we drove to Asheville to spend the day there before heading back to Virginia. We considered going to the WNC Nature Center, which would have been a nice addition (note that they have limited visiting hours), but our kid had not remembered ever being to a city so we decided to spend all our extra time in exploring Asheville.
