Holiday vacation
Nice location... the description of the house is as per the listing, and we did have a good family time. However, I would recommend better housekeeping since cleanliness was good, and would also recommend changing the main room mattress, since it was not comfortable. Other than that, it is a cute little place!!

Nice Getaway
Came here for my birthday in January with spouse and dog. It was very cold and the water pipes froze up overnight. The management responded promptly to our call and had a plumber out there on a Friday night. The pipes were frozen until the next morning and that was the only hiccup during our stay. Very cozy and quiet with a large parcel of riverfront land for you and your kids and or dogs to run. If they fall off the riverbank, there is no threat of drowning, because the river is slow moving and not even shin deep. Would like to come back during the warmer months.

A frame stay
Great lot on river. Good place for our dog to play. Very quiet spot. Pretty small. Had basic supplies. Small spiral stairs making upstairs beds hard to get to and almost impossible to carry luggage up. Ok for young. Not for seniors.

Excellent location
The home was much smaller than anticipated but the location was fabulous. It's perfect for a couple or a fishing trip. Accessing the river was fairly easy, down a small embankment. There was plenty of wildlife in the area. Most nights deer visited the backyard. We contacted management for a small issue and they were very responsive. We will likely return to this cabin.

Perfect, quaint getaway!
We loved this cabin! It is directly on the New River. My kids enjoyed playing and exploring along the bank and in the river. The view and water is stunning. Inside it is well appointed- it had every single thing we needed! We hope to be back!

Fantastic location. Poor up keep
Loved the location of this property. Few pointers to the owners. Fix things correctly. Couldn’t eat on table due to the fact it would fall apart if you put more than a magazine on it. Same goes for chairs. Bathroom is extremely cramped and water drains away from plumbing due to sagging of cabin. Need to get some stringers in and correct the sagging. Walkway to cabin was under a good 4 inches of water, so loading unloading was up a steep bank on driveway. Mothball smell didn’t add to pleasantness, along with plastic on bedroom window. ??? I have never left a negative review, but this place needs some TLC. I would also recommend moving pan rack. Hard to cook with pans, literally in your face.

Nice little property off the beaten path
The reason why we chose this property was it's close proximity to the New River. Beautiful views of the river and the sky. The downstairs room was a bit cramped and the A/C in it was Ok. The outside grounds of the structure has some drainage issues (flooding) leading up to the front steps. It rained a lot and made the ground real soggy which led to our vehicle getting stuck. Had to pay a towing company to tow SUV out. Overall , nice property.

Your first impressions are not going to be good here at the cabin
When we first got there the grass was too high to walk in we had to set the air conditioner unit up ourselves and when we did we learned it was 88° in the cabin and the washing machine does not work they will tell you that in a note on a coffee table in the cabin when you get there we spent three nights there and when it was all said and done and we got settled in from the first day we did have a lot of fun on the river and they do not have a grill they have something outside that looks like a grill but it would not function to put a steak on it and cook it so we couldn't Cook out and what we paid to rent the cabin I believe we should have just kept looking to rent something else that was better

Quiet and cozy
This chalet was tucked away in a quiet little area. You do have to take a narrow, dirt road to get there, so be prepared and drive cautiously. The outdoor area was very spacious with a pretty river in the back and a nice fire pit to sit by at night (you must purchase your own firewood, as it is not provided on-site, but we found some locally without much difficulty). I will say that the inside is very tight (“cozy”). We spent most of our time outdoors and visiting the cities any way, so the cabin was a nice little place to rest our heads at the end of the day. There is no functioning washer/dryer so you must be prepared to take your laundry off-site if you need to wash anything. I was a little disappointed with the overall cleanliness/appearance inside (drapes looked to be a bit dirty, as well as the bedding, but luckily we did bring our own blankets to use). The floors did not seem to have been cleaned very well (found sticky spots of something all over the floor in the kitchen area), so I actually had to do a bit of cleaning up in order to feel more comfortable in the space. Overall, we had a nice experience there and enjoyed our time in North Carolina.

Peaceful
Of course, we went when it was COLD, so there was no one around. Cute property, dogs loved running around, fun to sit out at firepit and listen to the babbling river. Some of the reviews had us confused. The road access is narrow but easily driven, and this is a FLAT LOT, easy to park. Bring food, plan for meals- there aren't good restaurants in the area, but wonderful spot to stay.

Great property on a beautiful river. Had a great time. Not a bad drive to Grayson Highlands and the VA Creeper trail. Only issue we had was the full size bed was not quite large enough for us. Overall very happy with our stay.

A little slice of heaven!
We had an AMAZING time at A Frame of Mind! This little nook of a property was tucked away next to the river and an oasis you have to experience. The A frame cabin was adorable and the perfect size for us and our dog =) The river is probably 25 - 30 feet from the back porch and the soundtrack to a relaxing few days away. The fog in the morning and the afternoon light coming through the trees is stunningly gorgeous. Not a complaint but just an fyi the hammock by the river and the Adirondack chairs by the firepit in the pictures are not present. That could have posed a problem had I not been a habitual over planner and brought my own chairs. I recommend to update the site when items are removed just so guests can plan what they'll need to bring with them =) The kitchen has everything you need, the wifi worked great, the TV had several options including all regular streaming options, and the small air conditioners kept the house cool in the late Summer afternoon. We loved this place and told all our friends and family about it!

Perfect escape!
Adorable house in a friendly mountain neighborhood! The house is well stocked with day to day needs and met our needs perfectly. We were able to cook all our meals and enjoy a rainy day snuggled inside watching a movie. Dog loved playing outside and in the river. The river is partly shallow allowing for finding cute rocks or seeing critters. There are deeper sections that are great for swimming and laying out in a tube. Highly recommend having water shoes (river bed has sharp sections). No complains and will be excited to come back!

Great time
We had a great stay. The lot is large and the access to the river is fantastic. We went down to the bridge and tubed back. After a heavy rain the river was muddy and fast so we were glad we went tubing before the rain. The cabin is small but had everything we needed. The kids loved the loft. There was AC in both bedrooms but we didn't really need it overnight. You have to take your trash to a center but it was fairly close and open until 7 pm. Neighbors are not too close and we liked the easy access to West Jefferson.
